Of course he benefited from the bad skates of Aymoz and Samarin [...]
Sure. This stupid argumentation is apparently not to be eradicated and sounds somehow typically German. Maybe you should just rethink your expectations? Fact is: Paul fought for this place because he was simply better and not by coincidence (by the way, this is true for everyone further up ). Can't we just give him that without reservation? This time others crashed, I don't see what this has to do with Paul.

Wow. This really was a great start for #TeamD 🇩🇪

H/S were really lovely. Totally into it. A shame about the close gap. But maybe better for their nerves. To me, they deserved the final group. But with this score and placements, I won't complain.
Great big champs senior debut by H/K. Robert seemed pretty relaxed to me, which keeps me hopeful that all will work out for them over the years. I totally enjoyed that.
Hold on to these 3 spots folks!
Awesome Day 1 :40beers:

Rough outing by Müller/Dieck.
A shame, it felt they somehow got more constant this season and now this 😕

Well Top12 for worlds was a very hot task for them either way to manage but I am pretty sure they would have wanted a way better outing here.
At least they made the cut, so a little improvement to their 1st Euros.
I hope for some rebounce and good outing in the FD.

Personally they are just not my cup of tea, too sloppy and over the top. But you gotta give it to them, it's their mark, they somehow stand out. It's to each own to decide if you like it or not.

DEU report on Fentz

He mentions he often trained alone as there is no single skater of his level left in Berlin.
Where have Stoll/Striegler gone to?

Puh. Rough day for Schott.
Points are really close but group 2 is for sure of no help here.
She really looked kinda done in knc :(
No clue if it's the injury or the pressure of final flight after Kostornaia was just too big?

Well, now all we can do is cheer and hope she will go all-in tomorrow and rewards herself for a great season so far!
Slay my girl! 💪

3spots :cheer:
Good teamwork folks!

I really liked the way H/S sold the shit out of this shit program! The most I have ever seen them perform :respec: But yeah, this was a bit too sloppy today. New and better FS please next season! (and please not too similar softie ballads)

Kudos for H/K. Great debut. They are looking way better than early in this season. I like the calmness of Kunkel. And this FS is such a great fit for her.

Well done (entire event) for both teams!

5th and 7th place is a very good result for the DEU. No question about that.

Nevertheless H/S´s Free skate was rough. There are some kind of moments which makes you feel uncomfortable since they were waiting for the music at some situations instead of creating some nice movements. The free skate still looks insecure although there have been skating to this music for the second season now. To me they need more practice and more daily routine. Skate, skate, skate till it is totally yours.

While in Berlin based press nothing is to be found about Berlin born pairs skaters (at least so far), FAZ has nice article about Pair skating in today's edition (by Roland Zorn):

excerpts:
"The four of them have known each other for years, can work together and complement each other well", König described the internal climate at the pair skating base Hohenschönhausen in Graz. That the quartet does not break out into great enthusiasm in view of the comeback plans of the outstanding pair skating queen, Aljona Savchenko, is only natural, because in Berlin the careers of Hase/Seegert and even more so Hocke/Kunkel are only just beginning to take shape, while in Oberstdorf, where Savchenko lives and trains, the "pair skater par excellence", according to Annika Hocke, is thinking about continuing her career. "We can't change it when she comes back," says Nolan Seegert, "but when she does, she will be very welcome.

König, 2018 coach and inspiring force behind the Olympic champions Savchenko/Massot, the couple with the FS of the century to the music from the documentary "La Terre vue du ciel", is also keeping a low profile on this topic. The master coach "doesn't know yet" whether he would accompany the pair anew with his know-how and ideas, just in case. "These are things that will only cross my mind when the time is there. It wouldn't be so easy to get things going in the light of my current job."

The 53-year-old former pair skater blossoms in this one - alongside his trainer colleagues Romy Oesterreich, who takes Hase/Seegert step by step to the top, Rico Rex, who has recently made Hocke/Kunkel a pair with a promising future, Knut Schubert and the technical expert Dimitri Sawin, who occasionally flies in from Moscow. Specialists who keep the business going with ten couples and encourage new ideas to new deeds again and again. If it were up to König, the new pair skating centre of the German Skating Union would be expanded by further pairs and coaches. "We have a lot of ideas," he says, "but that also costs money. I would really like a cool sponsor."

At present, the Berlin pair skating collective is trying to set tangible counterpoints to the Russian dominance in European pair skating. With the courage to experiment, they want to set their own accents. Thus, with the help of a professional dance couple, elements from the field of contemporary dance are currently being woven into the reflections on future pair skating freestyles. With conceptual creativity, situational moments of surprise and occasional messages, such as the Savchenko/Massot Olympic Free Dance, which aims to protect the earth, the Berlin pair skating factory wants to become a brand name.

Stoll is still practising in Berlin. And there is also Jagoda who is able to do a 3A, so it's not that there is no male skater. And I hope those 2 will push Fentz a little harder, because he obviously needs a lot of pressure to get out of his comfort zone.

Big big big shoutout to Müller/Dieck. What a skate! 💪
This was totally sharp and spot on. All the movements and presentation! I am absolutely no fan of this FD (and not the biggest fan of this team) but if they skate it like that, holy shit! This was just awesome! Congrats folks! :encore:

Event still going on; they will very likely finish 13th. So they miss the criteria for worlds (Top12) by one place but tbh this placement is better than I expected. Very well done!

Edit: 9th best TES in FD 💪

Another rough day in the office for Schott. Such a shame after a really good season so far.
2nd spot for Isaev, one of the hopefully-comeback girls or anyone else would have been nice :(
Gutsy 3f3t attempt, after she missed it with the first 3f.
I missed totally the attack and spark.
It's really time to bring the lutz. Her layout is so limited with this. And the field is getting deeper and deeper and passing by. Good PCS alone (not today) are not enough.
Hope the injury will heal quick and she can, once more, rebounce at world!
Chin up!

At ladies you need a good short to be in a good position before the Free. The points are always extremely close. No underrotations, level 4 on everything....

With Nicole´s SP she got lost in the second group with bad PCS.

I am confused. Only Hase/Seegert and Pavlova/Blommaert are listed for Challenge Cup.
I can see the event is maybe too close to junior worlds for H/K but how wants fed to make a fair decision then? If P/B mess up, it's easy, but if they skate great,... :watch: :drama:

Hocke & Kunkel have Junior Worlds coming up soon right? Could be they dont want to switch between the programs again ... or the Fed messed up again :D

Exactly that, commentator Weiss had mentioned it again, what the DEU had announced before; thus H/K in Graz could not exploit the possible potential (all the more beautiful, what they could still achieve).
