Wasn't Diana Davis supposed to skate for Georgia?
I thought she was. Maybe she still will be (but perhaps the federation doesn't know it yet). Or maybe she got so good that she doesn't need to swap countries because she will be competitive even within Russia. Or maybe the federation is doing Tutberidze a favour and agreed that they will look at her daughter and provide a feedback even if she doesn't plan to skate for Russia. It must be very useful to get a feedback from so many specialists that will be present there. (Considering Tutberidze's results with her skaters, they may want to do this for her. It won't hurt them to watch, advise and criticise one extra couple).

It definitely sounds like her, the author is Vera Zhuk. I liked this couple but his jumps were shaky and he was also small for a male pairs skater, it's quite likely she has outgrown him. They had a lovely short to Moon River last year. Best of luck to both of them in the future

I read it through google translate one section reads 'further conquer the summits of the pedestal together':)

I am pretty certain it is her. The year of birth is same, the city (Ekaterinburg) and the name of the coach (Tarasov). It would be a huge coincidence if there was another Zhuk with the same year of birth living in Ekaterinburg and being coached by Tarasov.

I liked her as a skater, but his jumps made me reluctant to be their fan because he very often messed up. Nothing as frustrating as watching the program knowing that he will mess up, and waiting for it to happen. So maybe it is for the better. With a good partner she could go far.

I wish there was something more reliable than `the source close to the pair' and `according to Ilinykh's instagram'....

True.

Kustarova for TASS:
"Ilinykh is skating with Shibnev. It hasn't been a month since they've teamed up".

Tarasova's comment
She respects Elena for her decision to continue skating and working hard. Tarasova has already been at their training session, they look good together and skate masterfully. He lifts her easily and they have an interesting program

Can you get list for singles and pairs? I am so curious...

I not getting my hopes up too high. Remember I&Z did well in their first season, then it was downhill. If this pairing works, great. Otherwise I may keep thinking 'What if - where I&K were at the end of the 2014 Olympics. I hope Elena's talent won't go to waste.

You really need to chill and quit being so condescending every time anyone says something in here that "isn't right for you". Are you even a native Russian citizen, a Russian ISU official, or a family member to some of these skaters?? :shuffle:

Not that you need to be, but you're so consistently "on it" with every single Russian skater in existence (like this thread is a fire that needs to be put out). that's the impression it gives off IMO. I mean I get it, I'm like that with Jason Brown, but.. :shuffle: You can't police this thread so much because you'll end up going homicidal within two more months.

I'm not "policing" anyone and you aren't going to dictate to me how to write my posts. I don't follow you around the forum and tell you that your style is annoying (but I could), so I'm not sure what your issue is. Who is acting like the "police" here?

If I see inaccurate information and I want to set the record straight, what exactly is your problem with that? You really think that's "condescending"? Is this a fan fiction forum for gossipy tweens or a place where people come for facts and legitimate news? It seems more & more like the former...which is exactly why I only tend to post on this thread. I live in the real world and I don't think it's fair to athletes when people write falsehoods and baseless rumors about them that go unchecked. And I certainly do not follow every Russian skater ffs!

He (Shibnev) lifts her (Ilynikh) easily and they have an interesting program

That's the sort of thing you wouldn't feel the need to say if it were actually true....
In this case it sound appropriate, since during past season Elena gained weight and Ruslan's difficulties to lift her were obvious (and addressed by professionals).

Seems Elena has a hard road ahead of her, but she is of "Anissina" and "Navka" mind set, so there is hope.....

On the other hand, the scuttlebutt was that Ilinyhk wasn't in shape, so how easy she was to lift, ie, how much she weighed, might have been exactly what she was monitoring.
