Whether it be award winners or fan favorites or films we may not know yet---what films do you like/love the most from this time period?

I don't have a list. What I thought about were the films that I've seen a number of times and don't seem tired of watching them yet. They include:

Love Actually
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
It's Complicated
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Zero Dark Thirty
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
Up

Please share your favorites. :)

So many movies from this century that I haven't seen as I'm no longer the avid movie watcher that I once was. But from what I have seen and remember:

Mulholland Dr.
Yi Yi
In the Mood For Love
Oldboy
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days
Palindromes
City of God
Dogville
Brokeback Mountain
Spring Summer Fall Winter and Spring
Samaritan Girl
21 Grams
The Dark Knight
Elephant
Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner
Kandahar
No Country For Old Men

Some of my favorite movies are on the lists above (Eternal Sunshine!), but lately I've been getting the most enjoyment from the low budget indie movies on Netflix.

Safety Not Guaranteed
Congruence (watched it 6 times)
Tucker and Dale versus Evil
Circle

Boyhood
Before Sunset
Brokeback Mountain
Traffic
People Places Things
Precious
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Moulin Rouge
Sideways
Chicago
Before Midnight
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Amelie
Pride & Prejudice
Atonement

Movies that I watch over and over:
Mean Girls
Pitch Perfect (both of them)
About a Boy
Bridget Jones' Diary
My Big Fat Greek Wedding

There are some here I've never watched and I like exploring. "Congruence" is new to me. I like the variety on the lists.

Don't look up anything about Congruence if you are going to watch it. But how it was made is fascinating.

One movie I've completely forgotten about but really liked was Loggerheads, a small indie movie from 2005 that received little to no attention. I remember being very moved by it. I was really surprised by Kip Pardue's performance as the main character since Kip is an actor who's had a relatively undistinguished career so far.

Pan's Labyrinth
The Lives of Others
The Inheritance
Brothers (original Danish version with Connie Nielsen)
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Northface
Spotlight
Slum Dog Millionaire
Billy Elliott
Lincoln
Hugo
The Social Network
Little Miss Sunshine
The Pianist
Chocolat
Mean Girls
Before Sunrise

I could come up with more if I spend the time...

I see quite a few that would be on my list. I have not seen some others.

I will have to really strain my memory to come up with a list, so thanks for creating a partial list for me. LOL.

The Hours
Hot Fuzz

No Country for Old Men
The Dark Knight

I'll probably come back with more. We could share our impressions after we watch some of the listed movies we discovered reading this thread. I will for instance watch Short Term 12, never heard of it but looks great. Also I must watch way to many movies cause it's on of the rare one I haven't watched out of all the movies mentioned so far :shuffle:

I'll give my list later, but I want to give you major props for listing Yi Yi. It is honestly my favorite film ever.

Vash and Artemis both mentioned "Gosford Park." I forgot about that one and how much I admired Robert Altman.
And I also failed to remember "The White Ribbon" so thanks for the reminder. I feel stressed after watching the film. I also felt I knew how those people were ripe for the picking for folks like Hitler. What is so interesting is this isn't about national policy at all.

I'm not much of a movie-goer or movie-watcher; so my list is made up of either movies I deliberately went to the theater to see (and liked), or movies I've watched more than once and continue to enjoy (mostly comedies).

Zoolander
Castaway
Meet the parents
Chocolat
the Bourne Identity
Finding Nemo
Pirates of the Caribbean (only the original!)
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
The machinist
Finding neverland
Last king of scotland
The dark knight
Sherlock Holmes
The girl with the dragon tattoo (Swedish version)
Shutter Island
the Social network
The King's speech
The hunger games trilogy/quadrilogy
Silver linings playbook
Argo
Life of Pi
Gone girl
American Sniper
The imitation game
The secret life of Walter Mitty
Ex Machina
Inside Out
The clouds of sils maria

Ooohhh....yes. Thanks Kasey.....Pirates of the Caribbean is one of my favorites too. And Zoolander!

I didn't mention Gosford park. I don't even remember the movie. I think I did see it.

I want to add to my list:

Lost in Translation
The Book Thief
Never let me go
Star Wars Episode VII- The Force Awakens

My bad....Artemis then....I always thought of "Gosford" as a more realistic portrayal of "upstairs, downstairs" and "Downton Abbey" as the idealized version both written by the same man.

Jeez--how on earth could I forget Star Wars VII?????

The King's Speech
The Book Thief
Frozen ( I heart Olaf)
Quartet
Shakespeare in Love (not sure of the year of its release)
The Life of Pi
Woman in Gold
Creed
The Shrek movies
The Princess Diaries movies
Chef
Seabiscuit

I was actually surprised to see that it was 2001 when I checked. For some reason I though it was a 90s movie. Probably because it's so very Altman, and I don't associate with this millennium.

White Oleander
The Magdalene sisters
Rabbit proof fence
Last Samurai
Memoirs of a Geisha
Dirty pretty things
Human trafficking
The interpreter

Other movies from this century that I liked were:

Zelary
Thirteen
Amores Perros
Fateless
Good Bye Lenin
Inception
Ghost World
Sex Traffic (tv movie)

I forgot about "The Pianist"! It's one of the 3 best films about the holocaust of all time:

(1) Schindler's List
(2) The Pianist
(3) Sophie's Choice

All very different and about different aspects of the holocaust, but there has never been anything better filmed about that time in history.
