Fall 2024-Summer 2025 New/Returning/Streaming/TV Shows

Finished the 3rd season of Shrinking last night; the episode was available yesterday. Loved it. Loved the particular Easter egg that Harrison Ford uttered.

I read that it will be back for a 4th (and maybe additional beyond that) season set after "some time has passed." That will be interesting. All the actors are scheduled to return.

I finished a Canadian limited series called Little Bird, about the Sixties Scoop when Canadian governmental officials were apprehending Indigenous children from their families (with the lamest reasons) to be adopted to white parents. Powerful, beautiful. For Americans, you should be able to see this on PBS.

Here's the preview for "Widow's Bay" (ah-who, ah-who)

We just watched "Families Like Ours" on Netflix. It's a Danish series, set sometime in the (near) future, about how Denmark decides to shut down as a country because it's going to be overrun by massive climate change-fueled flooding. It shows how this process affects several interconnected Danish families. We found it really gripping--if a little bit scarily on-the-nose, considering everything happening these days.

I watched the season finale of Star Fleet Academy last night. Enjoyed it. And I thought the “news updates” running across the bottom of the screen during the “trial” were hilarious.

On the whole I ended up enjoying Starfleet Academy, even though I knew I wasn't the target audience. I did like Holly Hunter's character.

I loved it! I'm not saying the season was perfect but it was interesting and fun. I liked that they took a lot of Teen Drama tropes and turned them on their heads. The main characters were interesting too.

I'm so sad that next seaon will be the last. It had a lot of potential.
