Eurovision 2016: We Can('t) All Be Heroes

I can't remember any of the songs from last year :shuffle:

It couldn't possibly be because I was in :nopryde:

Ah Belgium and Loic Nottet. He's a fantastic ... everything. He won France's Dancing with the star. Check for his "Chandelier" routine, it's the best I've seen in that show :)

Thanks for the recommendation! :inavoid:

He can dance too.

I have always enjoyed the chances of watching Europeans artists thanks to Eurovision (and not so much cause the Gala but all the boards and news surroundig the nationals selections). Surprisingly commercial radios and TV here don´t play a lot of European (not British) music. You can always find it, even more now thanks to internet, but is not really out there, what is a pity.

The only songs I can fully remember is the Latvian one, and the Italians. What I mostly remember from last year was the audience being a$$holes to the Russian entry, that the cute Italians were robbed, and that my Eurovision heart hurt without Ukraine there.

I liked Belgium last year, but I liked Georgia more. I couldn't stand the Italian song. It's like something Chock and Bates would skate to.

Sadly, I find the Georgia song terrible this year. The Young Lolitaz are as blah as their name isn't.

I just realized that the first two heats of Melodifestivalen already took place! I'm going to watch with my friend tonight, but I won't wait to watch Samir and Viktor, which is probably a decision I will regret.

Thanks to everyone above for info and links!

Ukraine's Eurovision entry takes aim at Russian oppression
Ukrainians have chosen a Crimean Tatar singer, Jamala and her song 1944, about mass deportation of Tatars under Josef Stalin.
One of the judges who chose Jamala’s song, the singer Rouslana, said the song “is precisely what we are all suffering in Ukraine today”.
Will ESC consider this song as political and ask to change its lyrics or disqualify it just like it did with Georgia's 2009 entry?

Wheeee wuzrobbing! We did it :D hahaha! La, la, la Alan Ladd! :p

But about 1996 while Gina G was a great fun song I think "the voice" was very special - oranges and apples - I am fine with the voice winning and Gina G song playing everywhere.

And 1998, well that was a great song and singer but Dana International was a star and that song is still one of the most important of Eurovision history IMO.

The rest are all good entries but that is the game.

I think it will depend of lyrics and the kind of promotion Ukraine Television decides.

At least the guy responsible of the Finnish ESC competition said that there is no way Ukraine could compete with that song. Too political.
The song itself is a bit monotonous, but it has interesting folk song interwals.

OTOH, Finland will choose our representative on Saturday. I have no superfavourite, but would prefer either Saara Aalto and No Fear or Mikael Saari. The others are a bit bland.
But the hell froze 10 years ago with Lordi, and it will not happen again for Finland, so never mind who we will send.

I would say :wuzrobbed only 3 out of those 8 times. :p

For the record those would be 1968, 1996 and 1998.

I'd add a (not serious at all) honourary wuz robbed for Jade Ewen for having a violinist stab her in the face with his bow and she carried on like a trooper. I nearly wet myself laughing

ETA: I have not idea how that article can mention the Francis Ruffelle song because it was just awful, I felt embarrassed watching it.

Jamie-Lee Kriewitz is the 17 year old winner of "The Voice of Germany" 2015. She loves Manga and dresses accordingly. Her voice is stunning! Not so sure about this song, though.
It was the best of the night, I think.

Guess I'm the only one watching then. :P

Mans Zelmerlow reprising his winning song from last year.

I'd actually go for Joe and Jake. It's probably between them and Bianca. I don't you (or Ireland) are winning Eurovision this year, UK. ;)

:slinkawayI wish we just withdrew from this 'song' contest with 'polite & so tolerant' euro public. Let em have the fun without us, evil rusians:rolleyes:
My heart still aches for poor Polya last year who had to be soothed by Conchita of all people (who I immensely respect after that). & Now my fav singer is sent into that hell poor puppy. I'll probs wont manage to
watch that hatefest. Hopefully it at least pays off for him & he can get some money from itunes itc:slinkaway & lol at someone suggesting Lena Radio participating. No way will she desire to be part of that! She's used to adoration of the FS fans:encore:I wont subject her to ESC!
