Ecuador earthquake

There was an earthquake in Ecuador yesterday that has killed about 233 and 1500 injured so far that we know off. It is the third earthquake in days following the two recently recorded in Japan along the "ring of fire". My thoughts and prayers to the victims and the bastion of Ecuador.

This is awful. At least in Japan they are more prepared for the earthquakes. I hope countries are offering to send help in as I'm sure there are people still alive in the rubble.

The number of people killed in a powerful earthquake that struck Ecuador over the weekend has risen to about 350, the government has said.
There have been desperate scenes as rescuers and family members searched for survivors, often with bare hands.
Teams from Switzerland, Spain and several Latin American countries have arrived to join the search effort.
More than 2,000 people were injured in the quake, Ecuador's most powerful in decades, which hit its Pacific coast.
Earlier, President Rafael Correa warned that the death toll was likely to rise, and said there were still people alive under the rubble of collapsed buildings. He said it was the biggest tragedy to hit Ecuador in the past seven decades.

Ecuador's hero dog Dayko has died. He was credited with saving at least seven people after the earthquake which killed 650 people. Dayko suffered an attack of heatstroke last week and finally succumbed to a heart attack yesterday. A true hero. R.I.P.
