Decisions of the ISU Council: 2018/19 Grand Prix order & JGP dates/locations; 2019 4CC to Anaheim CA

OHH.... I just realized France is around Thanksgiving.... I went one year and it was a great time to visit. I might have to make that the skating event next year depending on the location.

Of course 4CC is tempting. I expect US Nationals are going to be in Detroit and I think I can skip that :)
any idea who's bidding for 2019 nationals?

Aside from Dick Button, no one was doing triples. And certainly not quads.

Worlds were held in Colorado Springs in 1957, 1959, 1965, 1969, and 1975. Dick Button didn't compete at any of those competitions, but other guys who did were not only doing triples, but they also had to skate a 5-minute free program! (And at least the old Broadmoor arena was indoors.... when Worlds were held in Europe at that time they almost always skated outdoors. Even as late as the 1976 Olympics, the practice ice was on an outdoor rink.)

Bumping up an old thread. Has anyone heard anything about the location of the Grand Prix event in France? I was thinking of spending Thanksgiving in Paris and wondered if I could fit this in!

Also, the ISU website now says it's 11/16-11/18 so it looks like the original schedule in post one has changed.

The French Grand Prix will be held in Grenoble again. Am pretty sure the ISU dates on their site are incorrect as the official hotel is fully booked for the week after. :shuffle:

The schedule in the ISU communication was the "revised" schedule but apparently the calendar wasn't revised to coincide :)

The last 4CC I went to I simultaneously fell in love with Wagner and consoled myself and a group of Japanese fans who felt Asada wuzrobbed. I feel like it is meant to be for me to go to Anaheim, plus I can get some In N Out and :smokin: at the the Santa Monica pier with old friends, it just seems like it’s destiny for me to attend the 2019 4CC

^^^ We're still waiting for 2019 4CC event and ticket info to be released.

ISU Communication No. 2147 - Decisions of the ISU Council (The ISU Council met on February 13 and 18, 2018 in Gangneung, Republic of Korea): https://www.isu.org/communications/16497-isu-communication-2147/file

From the end:

5. Sustainability Initiatives at ISU Events
The ISU Council recommends that Organizing Committees of ISU Events achieve the
following sustainability initiatives to the extent possible:
• Promotion of green transport alternatives including use of green cars
• Entry tickets be combined with public transportation for spectators
• Renewable resources be used in Event facilities
• Recycling containers be used in Event facilities (e.g. for plastic bottles, paper, etc.)
2
• Green information desk be provided at Event facilities (possibly supported by local
authorities)
• Amount of paper used during competition be reduced by providing information to
teams electronically (e.g. email, instant messenger, etc.)
• Use of plastic bottles be reduced and avoid wasting water
• Announcements on video board be made during Event regarding recycling and green
initiatives
• Seating be provided for persons with disabilities
• Electric or gas ice-resurfacing machines be used
The same recommendations will be included in the Memorandums for guidance in holding ISU
Events.

6. ISU Council meetings
The Council agreed to meet again on:
- June 3, 9 & 10, 2018 in Seville, Spain. (ISU Congress meeting dates there are June 4-8, 2018)
- October 12-14, 2018 in Geneva, Switzerland.
- March 24-26, 2019 in Saitama, Japan [at Worlds].

So I guess 4CC will be at the Honda Center then.
Yes, Honda Center. (CC: @insideedgeua)

It is planned that practice sessions will be held at the Anaheim Ducks' new facility scheduled to be opened in Irvine in November 2018. The ISU is scheduled to conduct a site visit later this month and all-event ticket sales (hopefully) will happen sometime after then.

I wish they had that Irvine facility open when I was in college there! It is about 15 minutes from the Honda Center.

I assume the official hotel could be the Ayres Anaheim which is across the street from Honda Center but I don't know. There are so many hotels around there due to Disneyland.
