Someone has to!
Rion has a nice, sparkly headband too, and Mone has a blingy fan barrette. Oh and Kimmy has a matching gold scrunchie (which is not the same as hair bling, but at least it matches her costume today, lol).

Well, Kimmy's done about all that she can do - and put the pressure on the final five.

Repond delivered. She needs to jump higher to get the bigger GOE, but otherwise the skating is really nice. Still a baby Kostner for me

I don't think Mark was expecting Rinka to land that 3a any more than the rest of us were based on the lean it had in the air!

Axel probably at least q on the landing but good for her for full-force into it. I hate the loop+toe combo as always for the way she twists in between the jumps, same question on rotation for the 3T there. Second Lutz fall and another rotation check. Salchow in the Axel sequence looked like it could've been short as well. Meh. Loop not even close.

Something in her skating just makes me not enjoy her as much as pretty much every other Japanese woman. The posture is strange at times, the technique isn't as picture-perfect as most of them, the positions and finish on things like spin exits are always a little odd, too.

With the mistakes, this program falls extremely flat. That loop fall really killed any momentum.

She's going to need a LOT of disasters upcoming to make the GPF.

Why are you tempting the SkateGods?
It doesn't work like that.

ETA- except when I say Keegan Messing could very well win the SP at US Nationals and he ended up like 16th in the short that year. Okay, one time.

Extremely generous scoring. Did they review any of the dicey triples?

Wonderful from Chaeyeon. Maybe the first Lutz was short, I don't think anything else was too questionable.

Rinka's TES dropped by about 5 pts from the time the TES tracker went off the screen and Mark said the 3a was given a q, so yes, they did review some of them, lol.

Just on the principle of ugly-assed costumes that have no place being anywhere near the GPF, I need Rion to implode here and take herself out of contention.

Oh, damn, sketchy landing on her 2nd jumping pass and now a fall on the 3lo - guess that means Chaeyeon's moving up and Rion's moving down...

ETA - I have zero faith the judges will drop this below Kimmy where it belongs since they didn't do that to Rinka, but I'm going to hold out hope until the bitter end that the judges do the right thing.

Scores are already up on the results page and I'm thoroughly annoyed.

I dunno. Review the 3T as always, the 3Lz, the flip probably gets the ! call. Last loop short. Jumps look a lot tighter to me than they seem to for the panel.

But she kept it together this time and surely has done enough in this competition to stay on the podium and get herself into the Final, stopping the potential of all 6 entries coming from Japan.
