Conti and Macii used to have that feel-good special quality about everything they did. I don’t get it with Carmen, even though I love how the throw goes exactly with the accent of the music. Lots of clunky skating here. They will go into the lead in any event

I’m not usually this meh about the pairs but I think I might be this week because the Final is like 99.9% set. All the other disciplines, not so much.

I greatly prefer the world class look of the Germans but you just cannot splat on a step sequence :(

Well I was in a good mood after RD and women’s short. But now I’m in a bad mood after men’s and pairs short :p

Started off with terrible juju after the McBeath Parkman implosion. He might be partner shopping. She is a nervous wreck in competiton.

Kovalevs were ridiculously overscored and unwatchable.

Canadians and Polish were upbeat and entertaining.

Hase and Volodin are fine. I like them but they are not poetry yet. Don’t care much for this short.

I also don’t care for Conti/Maci and Carmen is so wrong for them. They cannot do it justice. Likable as they are.

I agree about McBeath and Parkman, which is interesting to me because I feel like when she skated with Nate, she was the steady partner. I had a lot of hope for this partnership but now I’m not so sure. She’s also a bit on the older side, and it seems like her jumps (which used to make her stand out as a Pairs girl) are letting her down.

Yeah, it's an interesting though, TBH. There are a couple of younger US pairs women who I think need a stronger partner and may be in the market if not at the end of this season then at the end of next season. He's certainly young enough to go at least 1 or 2 more Olympic cycles.
