I'm glad there was a pretty solid audience yesterday for the finals - makes a difference. Today appears similar to day 1 (scarce).

That opening number was so confusing. I didn't look closely at the skaters and dancers because I was waiting for Sui to come out with a spotlight or something. Then she didn't, so she must have been somewhere in there among them all along.

I didn't manage to pick her out either until they showed the replays.

I find this is typical of CCP supported events. Individual performers are not really highlighted unless they are children (like the Beijing Olympic ceremonies) otherwise they are part of a collective.

Boyang Jin was surprisingly fun. So were Lajoie and Lagha.

Shoma Uno was fabulous.

The camera work was very painful.

But the Wayne’s World style rapid closeup far away camera work was hurting my eyes.

Chen/Xing have some chutzpah skating to Rio with LaLa there. I kinda like their take on it. A little less campy, a bit odd, but I liked it.

So, weirder camera angles--the wax on/wax off of China or le camera artistique of France?
