So, tell me, do you have any objections to full body autonomy? This "their body, their choice" approach you claim, you carry that through to pro-life/pro-choice debates? Trans rights discussion? Etc?

I understand this sentiment 100%. But I also want to be optimistic, and not give up hope that a large-enough swath of North America's population is just... beyond help. Because what does that mean? What could that entail?

I have no idea how to turn things around, but I think a good start would be a balance of what marbri is advocating, and measured compassion for those who willing to come back from the edge. Not blanket "no biggie", but showing a path to sanity is available without constant shunning.

It's just that a lot of people on both sides seem to choke on the words "I was wrong", which is unfortunate.
 
The pandemic has really shown how spoiled and entitled many Canadians are, sadly. Freedom comes with responsibility. You don't want the vaccine? Fine, but don't whine about that consequences. These anti-vax crowd and Convoy aren't about freedom. They're about entitlement. This goes beyond agree to disagree.

Incidentally, even if the full profile doesn't show (which, by the way, plenty of people choose to do here), you can 100% still see the posting history. Not sure that it's particularly relevant since the poster has been here a long time and just was not active for many years, but it's there.

Humanity has been slowly but surely sliding down the path of self-sabotage for a while. Planet Earth making it to the 22nd century reasonably intact will probably be considered a small miracle (and this is just speaking from an environmental perspective, not even considering the geopolitical makeup in 70-80 years).

The overarching question then becomes - with every micro and less-than-micro segment in our universe now so emboldened thanks to social media and technology - does Humanity concede that this is the "New Normal", and let the course of history unfold as is, whether it be good, bad or (really) ugly?

Agreed, I am not sure what the relevance is. Is it to Doxx someone who supports free thinking? Considering this is a figure skating message board, that's all I plan on discussing on here in the future. Sheesh, who knew free thought was so threatening. :)

Well .. there are portions of the population that aren’t in their right minds. The majority of us realize that yes there are freedoms but their are laws, bylaws .. along with a ton of other stuff.

How do you see members posts? I’ve never been able to do that eg., looking for a thread or post that gets buried. I don’t have a subscription though.

Although you've twisted my words, I am going to take your post and just go with it. Sometimes when people spout out whatever it is on their mind without conscientiousness, thorough qualified research, self-awareness of their biases, and without actual knowledge, whatever it is they are saying can be willful ignorance.

Not all ideas communicated in the marketplace of ideas are equal. Just like in a regular marketplace, some products are of higher quality than others. The same goes for ideas. Just because you can say something doesn't mean it is worth anything. Some have much more qualified opinions and expertise than other people. And some who repeat wildly dangerous things that harm other people and have nothing to back them up other than shouting "free speech"/"freeze peach" or that they are a "free thinker"....well, that says everything. They know there's nothing truly of value backing them up other than their bigoted opinions.

By the way, all of us are "free thinkers" who are exercising our ability to express and speak. Jamie Sale isn't a special snowflake. She's just ignorant and is clearly showcasing her limitations as a "thinker".

But now that the Olympics is over and interest in skating is back to microscopic levels, I think Canadian television should hire Sale for commentary duties. Talk about appointment viewing!:watch:
 
Have to wonder how Jamie's son with David is dealing with this. He is 14, he understands things. I did hear that he is seen with Katia & David a lot, more so than in previous years. I hope so, for his sake. He's got to be so confused about everything.

It sounds like David's got full custody of him. Jamie mentioned having a broken relationship with her son. Poor guy.

This is like walking away from a fire on the assumption that it will burn itself out without any help. Sometimes it works, more often it doesn't.
This crowd is promoting "information" that is a danger to their own health and to everyone who comes in contact with them. That shouldn't be ignored.

One might argue most Canadians did ignore, refuse to engage and left them to discuss their conspiracies amongst themselves while smugly thinking we would never become the US and, well here we find ourselves in a Canada that is so completely foreign to every thing I grew up with and identified with. Call it hyperbole if you wish but I cringe now whenever I a Canadian flag and that for me is really sad. As someone who spent half her life it was always sweet to fly into Ottawa and see the Maple Leaf, not so much these days. 🤷‍♀️
 
Just happened on this forum thread when I noticed how bizarre Jamie's posts were becoming so randomly google searched and this came up. Quite sad for me...was a fan (been big fan of skating since seeing Brian Orser win the world's in 87). The Twitter posts she retweets supporting Trump are mind boggling...and all the conspiracy theories she pushes are unbelievable. She went from 14k Twitter followers in late April (I noticed when I watched the video of her "awakening"..the host put screen shot of her twitter account back in April) but now she has over 25k!! Coincidentally..as I had followed her IG in the past and would always try and see if David's account was open...it always was private, it's now open!. Not sure if this is intentional so that people concerned with her recent state of mind can be assured he is still very much there as a co-parent, or if he accidentally put it on public. I know I checked his account when he got married to Katia last year and it was private. I'm very sad for the kids...this can't be an easy situation for anyone in her family :(
 
I've been looking at Davids Instagram occasionally over time and IMO it has been open for quite some time.
 
Too many blunt force hits to the head from pairs figure skating explains Sale's delusions but what about all the other folks who follow this junk?
