Coronation of King Charles III

I think I will catch the highlights tomorrow … unless I happen to wake up in the middle of the night. I like the horses. And the carriages and crowns even though I have mixed feelings about the family keeping them.

As a commonwealth country .. Ahead of the coronation of King Charles the question is being asked – will Canada's currency be updated for the new monarch? Although it has been months since King Charles III assumed his new role as monarch, Canada has yet to update its currency to include images of the new sovereign
Don't worry, we'll have images of the plants he talks to.

Will there be tiaras and beautiful gowns? That's all I care about in regards to the monarchy. :p
I don't think it's a tiara event.

I'll tune in to see what the royals are wearing, and probably find other things to do later.

I know clotted cream is most likely delicious because the Brits seem to like it. But I envision curdled sour milk.

unlike my family in England I am not a fan of the royals, but nobody does pomp an circumstance like the Brits so I will watch bits. I found it very interesting this week the lack of support in general with the very demographic that typically supports the royals. Opinions are shifting.

I will be watching the coronation. I have complicated feelings about the monarchy these days, but I am a sucker for the pomp and circumstance ... and the Brits do it so well!
This. It's a once in a generation historic occasion and nobody else does ceremony like Great Britain.

Right now BBC are interviewing random members of the watching crowds, finding people from as many countries as possible. Moving on now to seeing troops crossing Waterloo bridge in preparation.

Loving watching all the troops arriving at Waterloo and marching down to Westminster.

Kind of not bothered but interested ? hope it’s a great day for everyone there.

I don't think delicious is what comes to mind when I think of British cuisine but I didn't know what clotted cream was either, so I checked. Basically, it's the cream fat. You heat the cream on low heat for 12 hours in a shallow dish in the oven and during that process, the fat rises to the top. Once it's done and cooled you remove the milk and what remains is clotted cream.

I’m up!! Is it starting? I’m actually kinda excited. I don’t have scones but I can make some tea. Pinky UP!!

I’m happy (if surprised) to see Ant and Dec are there. And Nick Cave! :D Some of the choices seem a bit random but maybe they support the Prince’s Trust or something.

Piers: “Harry arrived alone, in a plain-old American Airlines flight! He’ll be seated three rows back…”

Ah, that would eliminate it for me. I don't like, drink milk or use cream in any form. Custards, yogurt, anything creamy is a texture thing - I just cant.

Good morning, everyone. I'm watching on my local ABC station. Had to get my morning cup of coffee first. This will be my first coronation just like so many of us here. I'm afraid I was born 5 years later after the 1st and I'm actually excited about it. I know Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Andrea Bocelli will be performing.

And I'm not familiar with clotted cream. lol!

Earlier, Michael Strahan mentioned that it had been raining during Queen Elizabeth's coronation, and it's raining now. I'm not surprised because it is a rainy season including where I live.

They just showed Queen Mary's crown which will be used to crown Camilla. It's beautiful.

The procession is cool, but I also want to see what's happening with the foreign royals! Can we not have a split screen?

ETA: Yay, back to the Abbey. Beatrice looks fabulous :swoon:

Piers: “Harry arrived alone, in a plain-old American Airlines flight! He’ll be seated three rows back…”
Oh no, Harry traveled in a reasonable manner! Off with his head.

There are at least twenty royal families present from around the world! I just have to say, Wow! Quite impressive.

The Prince's Trust seems to be the main reason various celebs received an invite, based on the interviews conducted earlier.

Zara Tindall looks fab.

The Duchess of Edinburgh looks like all her robes are quite uncomfortable (which they undoubtedly are!).
