The main news here is the Barbara and Charlie of it all, but I’m a bit surprised that Manni/Roethlisberger are committing to another four years. They’ve been at the same making the cut at Euros, missing out at Worlds, just short of the GP level for a while now, and with the young teams coming up from juniors there will probably be more competition for fewer Italian spots.

indeed, a couple of weeks ago, I think I wrote in the general Ice Dance thread that I thought it was a potential retirement team given the age and that they were stagnating.

I'm interested in seeing if and how MIDA re-groups. I don't see Belbin and Zuerlein addressing the packaging flaws on their own, if they decide to stick together and continue.

Any reason for this? Maybe every problem they had was Charlie's fault.

But on a serious note, I figure there is something you heard or saw that leads to this conclusion. I just get nothing from MIDA when it comes to these things. Unlike other training centers, where I do get an idea of how things work, what their biases are, who is favored, etc.

I think if they were good at packaging, their teams would have been well-packaged. But despite a few hits here and there, this seemed like a general weakness.

But is it because of not wanting outside help? If that's the case, it's possible this new combo would be more open to it.

My prediction which I mentioned earlier is that ChoBat will move back to Michigan, which they’ve hinted at, and land at MIDA. Madison Chock could do wonders for packaging.

I have no idea. I do know that none of them had great examples of packaging. They were with Shpilband and Zoueva through the early CoP/codewhoring days, and Belbin went to Linichuk, which was even worse, aside from Belbin gaining strength.

I was grateful for the Linichuk change, if only for the fact that she didn’t want Tanith to become seriously ill. They could have packaged her as a farm girl for all I cared.

This has me shocked! Lindsay Van Zundert’s comment “I am so proud of you, always follow your heart” is interesting as she skated with Ans for a long period.Best of luck to Nina, one of my most favorite skaters since I saw her live at SA 2024.

My guess is that she had already made up her mind pre-worlds and was just waiting for the season to be over to minimize disruptions

I don't know enough about Petrenko's work to say, but she was never going to get her skating skills up to speed with the Letovs (see, e.g., Mitrofanov's footwork after all these years). Hope this works out for her!

More news from Belgium media: Nina Pinzarrone has officially changed coaches to Damon Allen and has moved to Colorado Springs in the US. I'm guessing this means she will train on the ice/olympic center up there.

• Wanted a change and new way of working/environment, was not motivated to train last year under old coach Ans Bocklandt
• Looking forward to training with Amber Glenn and learning a lot from her like triple axel (which she mentioned specifically so I guess that's her tech bar to chase)
• Praised America for being a special country and for being very ambitious with sports unlike Belgium [?]
• Less logistical problems compared to training in Belgium
• Liked having a lot of specialist coaches available there to use
