Chinese skating news & social media updates pt. 5, 2023 onwards

They can appeal it, but it's CFed

ETA: At least he'll have MTS, no matter what it's called as.
Just TES min is what it's generally abbreviated as here on FSU, lol.
He's at a total of 72 now, with the 3A credited. SP MTS for 4CCs achieved.
Glad to see it was fixed! Not a terrible score - something to build upon as the season progresses.

Colour me 0% shocked that they decided to send nobody to CS events to test preparedness. And 100% shocked they didn't drop spots.
Wellllllll, there's no guarantee that these assigned skaters will KEEP their spots. I'm not surprised they didn't yank any spots - pairs and dance seemed pretty clear. I think maybe, possibly there could have been some rationale at dropping the 3rd spot in women, but Zhu seems to be a fed fave, so how surprising is it that she got the spot in the end?

I meant no matter what the 3A is called as, because he was at 27.xx before. 28 is what he needed.

As he's focusing on the 3A, the spins have worsened. But this is so close to the previous local competition, so I'm sure the stamina issues will be worked on.

Jia Shuguang (Yan Han's old coach) must be working for him. The transfer only happened a few months ago IIRC; the CFed clearly noticed he was good and let him take the opportunity. I think it's better to give him some time with her and see what happens.

There was a lot of "drama" about Hongyi two seasons ago, so that's one spot I didn't expect them to keep. But I guess this only furthers how much one should ignore chinese rumours lol.

I don't think Beverly is a fed fave. They did "buy" her though, so it's good to see her still around, and that might be one reason why they gave her the spot. And I still feel for what happened to her during the Olympics, so it's nice to see her again.

Yeah, they can still WD. And I definitely am going to  if Peng/Wang show up to their GPs with doubles...

Coach Jia is really making a magic on Dai in such a short amount of time, and her other skaters like SUN Wanyi(Alt in CoC) and JIANG Zhiao( Junior skater) are also very enjoyable to watch for their gorgeous skating skills and presentation. I wish that Coach Jia can have a bigger role in Chinese single skating, her coaching ability and understanding in SS are certainly the best in China.

I think the international judges have sent a pretty clear message today: Nini should change her programs to Benoit for the upcoming GP immediately.

Not "4th Jin", but "four Jins". Her name in Chinese is 金恒鑫 with "鑫" being "金金金".

Good job earning the 4CC SP MTS!
Oh you're right! I was thinking about it like the Chen "family" in Chinese nicknames, but it's not true here

"Daiwei" won it on pcs, which is kind of ridiculous to me after that free skate, but I guess he did have a big lead after the SP... 4CC mins achieved, but not Worlds.

He was third in the free skate and won it by the lead he had from the short... His PCS was 0.2 higher than Cha in the free so I don't see how he "won it on pcs"??

What sort of score do you think a 3Lo, 2Aq and 3S+3T is going to get? That's a pretty generous score, especially also considering she only had a L2 on her step sequence and her layback was a L3.
Nini is ahead at the Asian Open, so I don’t understand your worries. Not a huge score (58pts) but #1.
Precisely.

I thought it should have been lower for what he delivered in the LP, but it doesn't really matter tbh

Eta: yeah just saying the lead in the short let him win would have been better though

Guess "Daiwei" is truly how Dai's given name is pronounced?
Is it because it's in Cantonese? Because then it might make sense, although it absolutely didn't click for me before.

I think they're only talking about the PCS.

So Xiangyi actually DIDN'T achieve worlds mins for her LP, but did get her 4cc mins, like David.

There is more than one pronunciation for the character '大', other than 'Da' it can also be 'Dai' as in 大夫 'Daifu' (doctor). Everyone just assumed his name was Da because it's the most common pronunciation (which we just found out that it's wrong lol)

Maybe? But also I'm pretty sure even the commentators were using "Dawei" though? So it's also like "oh they're saying Dawei, so it must be Dawei, and he must have told them it's Dawei". Anyway, we got clowned.

Thanks, @Karen-W ! And, guess what? Nini won with her gorgeous golden program (whatever the music, it’s Golden)!

UPDATE: It’s called “Golden Flower” - appropriate.

Eh, the content isn't there. That skate wouldn't have even warranted 5th place at Cranberry last week. Fans need to chill out and back off the insanely high expectations for her first full senior season.

does anyone know if GAO Shiqi is age-eligible for JGP bc they needa send her if she is

Bigger question is which team is going to wind up with only 1 assignment overall? Presuming that 2 of the 3 teams assigned so far get a 2nd assignment in Poland at JGP #6.
So bummed... if we're looking at scoring potential the top 2 would be Shi/Wang and Yang/Deng. But I highly doubt we're gonna get that lineup in Gdansk because Shi/Wang and Wang/Liu are from the same group and I presume the provincial team would want to send them together. So we're most likely getting Yang/Deng alone again or Shi/Wang and Wang/Liu in Gdansk...

Or worse... nobody gets a second assignment...

ETA: if the provincial teams are funding JGP participation then I guess it's likely that Yang/Deng won't get a second assignment. They very easily could've done back to back Gdansk last year and didn't either even though that would've been super economical.

They looked underprepared at the 5th stop. Maybe it's okay if they don't get a second assignment, but it's a bummer, since it's their placement at JWC last season that got the Chinese juniors these JGP assignments.

Shi/Wang will (hopefully) get two though. Let's hope it works out for Yang/Deng too.

Chinese entries of Shanghai Trophy mentioned in the Weibo post above:

Boyang Jin, Yudong Chen; Xiangyi An, Hongyi Chen; Peng / Wang, Zhang / Yang; Wang / Liu, Chen / Xing
IDK where to put the entries I saw? But apart from these skaters, we also have Cha Jun Hwan, Matteo Rizzo, Adam Siao Him Fa, Guignard/Fabbri, Lee Haein, and Niina Petrokina.
