In June 2020 the next ISU Congress will take place in Thailand, which could bring far-reaching and even unusual changes. The commission is already busy preparing the motions to the congress than there are:

• no lifting of the ban on quadruple jumps in the ladies' short program
• on the other hand, the raising of the age limit should be discussed, although it is not yet clear whether this limit should apply to both women and men
• in addition, a change in the programmes is to be discussed, for example the elimination of the short programme and freestyle
• instead, there will be an artistic and a technical programme
• in the technical programme, the elements should make up 60% and the components 50% - in the artistic programme the opposite is true
• there should be individual medals for each programme, plus a medal for overall performance

There is an article in the Russian press, which was linked to on Twitter:

... that's what i was talking about in the previous post.... someone said it on a russian site, and then it was quoted, re-requoted and spread around to english-language sources.

Perhaps they should consider the gymnastics route where they have a separate competition for each major element type (i.e. one for spins, one for footwork, one for jumps, one for lifts etc). They will produce a lot more medals and a whole lot more specialists.

I really think they should consider bringing back the short program required jump requirement for the seniors.
