Yes, because, as I noted, of the difference in eras. Sasha's Olympic free skate should have dropped her off the podium, but it didn't because Torino was a total mess. Amber doesn't have that luxury.

Nope, I hope she retires too. It's no fun watching her beat herself up after a poor skate and it's really depressing to see her let one mistake unravel an entire program. She just doesn't have the right mindset for competition.

Good skate for Chiba. Not a big fan of the music, which fades so much it is almost like she is skating to no music. That final combo spin that ends with a Bielmann is extraordinary.

AMAZING final spin by Mone and a wonderful performance overall. Unlike Amber, if she makes an error, she doesn't get inside her head and let the program slip away. Good job!

Not even her best long, just a clean short and a long with zero pops and just 1-2 max small mistakes would probably have been enough.

Amber is a bit more like Johnny Weir, though he did achieve one world bronze. Great skating, not so great mental game. Tammy Gambill and Priscilla Hill are two coaches whose names I associate with skaters who seem to have talent but who don't quite make the final leap world-wise.
