Of course Abo/Ves wouldn't have made it to Worlds as they now are. They were too young in every sense. They were juniors skating a junior program. The other teams have years of experience and seasoning that they don't have. I think if all goes well they have superstar potential, but they have years and years to go before they get there.

But if the question is who skated a well-put-together program with excitement and verve and attitude -- well, by that standard I would put them right up there with the best in the world.

Their RD was excellent and the 'verve and attitude' were on point for such a piece. I can do without the diva vibes otherwise. Just not my thing.

First of all, the fact that you think Elton John is a great singer shows you know as much about music as you ice dance.

Um, what? Where did I say Elton John was a great singer? He's better than I am, but it's a low bar.

My point is that a poor singer is not going to become a great singer just because they work with an expert. I mean, I worked with a vocal coach before a community theater tryout and I did get better but my basic inability to stay on pitch was only improved. I certainly didn't become an opera singer. Neither did Ewan MacGreggor.

Secondly, the idea that the fifth placers at US Nationals and a junior team who scored in the 60s for their rhythm dance at Junior Worlds have better programmes than the Olympic and World champions does not make you edgy.

Again, not what anyone said. We said their performance recalled Vogue better, even though they don't have the same level of skating skills. The things we are talking about are similar to a movie review, where there are objective points and subjective ones. Obviously, people are going to disagree on the subjective ones and that's fine.

I saw BratSom's RD at the GP in France and found it fun and lively but sloppy. FBCiz came after and it seemed too careful to really convey the spirit of Vogue even if well-skated. The Vogue music video had abandon over precision as well.
