Personally, I don't think they are going to retire. Guillaume, when asked at the Olympics what they would do after their victory, was quick to say they would be going to Worlds and then hinted that they might continue on after that. And, now, you have Laurence telling the audience she hopes to see them again. I would love for them to continue because they are SO brilliant. We shall see.

I'm torn between not wanting to watch F-B/C and the fear that if F-B/C do retire, G/F, G/P, R/A, and all the other teams in their mid 30s will decide to stick around another season to try for that elusive world title.

After reading LaLa’s mixed zone comments I really wonder if Zach is going to hang up his skates. He is very invested in his schooling and musical endeavors. It would be such a shame but the material they have been given and the judges scoring of them is really depressing.

I get this sentiment completely. On the one hand, if FBCiz stay in, there are a lot of teams who will call it a day at the end of this season and not bother with putting themselves through the turmoil of another 4 years since the gold will never be within their grasp. I'd rather that pretty much all of those teams - ChoBat, GuigFab, GilPoir, ReedAmbru, FBCiz and even FearGib - all retire and let the younger teams have their time in the sun.

After reading LaLa’s mixed zone comments I really wonder if Zach is going to hang up his skates. He is very invested in his schooling and musical endeavors. It would be such a shame but the material they have been given and the judges scoring of them is really depressing.

What did they say? I really hope this isn't the case but the LaLas will need to make big changes next year if they're ever going to reach their potential.

If L/B or L/L were fourth I would do the wuzrobbed a bit more, but in a world of vibes over quality, I am not sure I would be wuzrobbing F/G, L/A or S/D over Z/K.
So I'll be celebrating Z/K!

That would be awful, but my god have they been failed by their team, the Canadian federation, and judging.

I think most of the younger teams are thinking they have at least 2 more Olympic cycles in them so they can probably wait out Gui's ego through 2030.

And remember how scandalized people were by Z/K finishing third there, which qualified them for the GPF and "robbed" LaLa? There were some posters on this board that were outraged at the idea that Z/K were a top six in the world ice dance team.

I thought Usova/Zhulin won silver in their first worlds in 1989 but they'd been at Euros (but not Olympics/Worlds) in 1988. But hey, my aging GenX brain could definitely be wrong.
