2026 U.S. Nationals - St. Louis!

Figure Skating Icon Kristi Yamaguchi To Accept 2025 Stan Musial Lifetime Achievement Award For Sportsmanship

.... Yamaguchi will accept the highest award for sportsmanship at this year’s Musial Awards presented by Maryville University on November 22 at Stifel Theatre in St. Louis. The special award recognizes iconic sports figures who have embodied class, dignity, generosity, integrity, and excellence throughout their lives and careers. Previous recipients include Bob Costas, Bill Bradley, Albert Pujols, Wayne & Janet Gretzky, Hank Aaron, Bart Conner & Nadia Comaneci, Jim Thome, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Cal Ripken, Jr., Arnold Palmer, and Joe Torre.
“We are thrilled that Kristi Yamaguchi is receiving the pinnacle honor bestowed at the Musial Awards,” said Marc Schreiber, president of the St. Louis Sports Commission and executive producer of the Musial Awards.
... It is named for St. Louis Cardinals legend Stan Musial, a beloved baseball icon and civic ambassador, who was the ultimate good sport. ...
The Musial Awards will air throughout the country on CBS on December 28. ...

Press release does not mention that St. Louis will host Nats in Jan 2026, but I'm posting in this thread because I'm guessing that one way or another, USFS will find a way to congratulate Kristi and to weave in a plug for Nats.
(Even though awards will air on CBS.)

Availability is getting quite limited for certain types of tickets. If of interest to anyone who has not purchased yet, today I am seeing (for example):

18 seats for Weekend Packages

15 lower-bowl seats for Session 6, Championship Pairs Free Skate (Groups 2&3) & Championship Women Free Skate (Groups 2&3)
[For upper-bowl seats, plenty of availability.]

(I have not checked every ticketing category. Just trying to give a general idea that it's possible that certain types of tickets could sell out by the time that January rolls around.)

That's a good thing! It will be nice to attend a full arena:)

If you are boking separate hotels, and want to be close to the Centene Ice Center, St Charles is about 10 minutes from the rink. It has a charming downtown. There are several hotels, including the Drury Inn which is clean and nice enough. Plus free breakfast. There’s also the Hollywood Casino Hotel just across the large parking lot from Centene Ice.

Creve Coeur is also 15 min or so from there and has hotel options along Olive and 270.

I got an email from USFS today about the novice and junior events at the Centene Center:
While the novice and junior competition is a general admission event, all Friends of Figure Skating P1A all-session ticket holders will have reserved, front-row seating at the Centene Community Ice Center.
And then,
Additionally, we received several inquiries regarding transportation for the novice and junior event. At your earliest convenience, please complete the transportation inquiry form below. If enough people confirm their participation, it is our sincere hope that this shuttle service program will provide you with accessible and easy-to-use transportation for the Centene Center event.
That's nice of them to think of that possibility, but the price of the shuttle service is:
Would you be interested in being apart of the shuttle service at the following rates? Individual: $100Couple: $150
So I have a question for the locals:
How much would it cost to travel from downtown to the Centene Center and back using Uber or Lyft?

I have no experience with Uber fares and almost never take taxis, but the distance from my hotel in St. Louis (the Drury Inn at Union Station) to the Centene Community Ice Center is 21.8 miles by the shortest route. I think that would have to be a very expensive Uber or taxi fare.

Edited to add: The Uber website presented 4 options ranging from $44 (for UberX, which is odd) to $62.

You can go on Uber or Lyft and see this for yourself any time.

Leaving right now, Uber X is $41.98 from generic 'downtown St. Louis'. One way. So yes, the shuttle price is worth it.

Is that rate for both days and where will it pick up from? I am still debating if I will arrive Sunday or Tuesday. I guess I will submit interest and see what further details we get.

The shuttle price should be for both days; there's no indication it's a daily rate. No clue about the pick-up point(s).

Seriously thinking about going for senior championship friday and saturday sessions... though the issue for me is hotel not that far but not that expensive from the arena for the senior

So, it sounds like Session 9 on Sunday, Jan 11th, is going to be a gala exhibition with performances from the new Olympic team members and not just an official Olympic team announcement.

Following the competition at the 2026 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships, the skaters who will represent Team USA at the Olympic Winter Games will be announced for the first time during The Olympic Team Announcement on Jan. 11. In addition, the team announcement serves as a show with exclusive performances from the newly-named Olympic Team members.

If they really think it's a great idea to withhold the names of the women & pairs team members for over a day after the conclusion of the free skates, they're nuts.

Because we are always discriminated against! :mitchell:
I can understand it with some things but this makes NO sense. (And people I expect you to get creative here, form a list and make sure EVERYONE is a couple - play their game!)

We already know they are nuts!
