Olga was born in the Ukraine, trains in NJ and Switzerland, and skates for Austria. That is figure skating in a nutshell.

Sure is. I was showing my 8-year-old grandson Riku and Ryuichi's TE FS on the weekend and he couldn't wrap his head around WHY, if they lived in Canada and trained in Canada, they didn't skate FOR Canada instead of Japan. When I explained that they were born in Japan, he just kept saying, "Yes, but they moved to Canada." Bless him, he has no idea how very much there is about figure skating that most of us will NEVER understand.

Skating really needs to lower the penalty for URs. There are other things as important, including extension, speed, flow and interpretation.
