Sure, but then she would only have 7 triples instead of 8 so the base value would be lower.

Watching Amber's reaction makes me think of what Gracie Gold said in her book, about how even when she had a great skate she would still be mad that it wasn't better. It makes me sad to see Amber being frustrated by that one slip on the jump, when the rest of the program was terrific. I wish she wasn't so hard on herself.

Nathan Chen's lukewarm clapping aside, I think that was the "Olympic moment" Amber was hoping for. Not perfect ... darn that final 3lp but pretty darn good. HUUUUGE 3axel. But, most importantly, she looks happy and that's all I really wanted for her today. Well done.

Given how solid her 3A has been I have to imagine she has considered doing a second one. The fact that she doesn't makes me think maybe it takes too much out of her and she suffers on the later jumps. There must be some reason she never does a 2nd 3A.
