I was thinking of musicals with truly beautiful songs + upbeat numbers as well. The skating world seems weirdly seems stuck in the 90s. But there's so much good stuff both before AND after that era!

I think this has a lot to do with the ages of the current choreographers. Twenty years from now, skaters will be skating to the music we're wishing for now.

Sui must have an iron core and perfect timing for them to do such perfect lifts and be so close in height. Apart from the opening jump sequence, that was a good skate. They scored 9 points on two of their lifts.

It's very unnatural to say "it was a good performance" about this skate from Sui/Han, but given the circumstances, it absolutely was.

They are still the reigning Olympic Champions, and aside from the side-by-side jumps, this was a beautiful performance.

The only sense I can make out of this experience is if their her sole reason for coming back was wanting to have the Olympic experience again without the covid bubble and how she skated was absolutely irrelevant to her.

Otherwise it's just very confusing.

But they'll go into first.

This program is such a snooze. Between the popped toes and double sals (with such a weird entrance), this should go behind the Italians, but probably won't based on the TES.

Sui and Han - beautiful program. Loved the music. Normally a FODS can be ugly but I liked her position in that. And the pairs spin was really nice.

SuiHan - what is this overhead view? SBS 3t+2a+2a - she singled the 3t; 3tw - always so good; throw 3f - swish; first lift - decent; SBS 2s - who had this team joining the SBS 2s Club? FODS - the Tech Cmte really needs to take away the bullet point for the blade/leg grab feature; combo spin - slow & labored exit - so, like most pairs combo spins; throw 3s - good; second lift - fine; last lift - also fine; choreo seq - eh.

The GOE for some of these elements is ridiculous - can't believe they're going to stay in the lead with that anemic program.

Much better skate from Sui/Han, but still super-confused that they are on this ice at all. I’d rather have kept the memory of their last Olys.

Sui/Han - I am nervous for them. They are not the team they once were (slower for one thing), but I am still enjoying their skating.

Urgh! Sui's SBS jumps are not her friend right now. I want to know what she said to him before going into the spin.

Wasn't too bad overall, but the SBS jumps were not good.

Did Lori nichol do this program? It doesn’t seem like one.

I'm assuming they took a lot of signature Nichol elements out due to her injuries. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is probably a lot different than Nichol's original vision.
