You still have to do well enough in the free skate to stay in podium position. Whereas if you’re bad enough in the short you miss the cut and your competition is over.

I would say "it's hard to win it in the short but it's absolutely possible to lose it there." If I were a commentator, that is.

Gogolov’s short always makes me want to go watch Cowboy Bebop and by the time I get over that compulsion, he’s done skating and all I see is the cocking of the gun at the beginning and the spin at the end.

With a slightly obstructed view bc we are at the very end of the last section. Past the sweepers where the skaters enter. That part is awesome.

But looking down the long part of the rink, everyone leans over on our row and it’s hard to see.

It’s rough. I know.

If @tony and @Lanie get kicked out, row 3 is mostly empty behind us.

Belated comment: I believe Li has yet to land a 3A cleanly in competition but he's getting closer.

I was hoping Stephen would knock it out of the park again like he did in the team event, but after seeing the dangling strap on his pants, I'm just happy he survived!

I do think he is starting to make some progress on the presentation side too.

Eys me too! I honestly thought he was going to be one of those skaters who peaks in juniors and then never really does anything much. I'm so happy to be wrong about that!

WHEW .... I was holding my breath when I saw those laces out. EEEEK!! As for the skating itself, great quad combo, decent 2nd quad and darn the landing on the axel. Overall, that was pretty darn good. Proud of you, Stephen. Good job ... again.
