2026 Canadian Championships - Senior Women SP & FS

Is Dupuis attempting the triple axel in the free? Any reports on how it has been going in practice? I'm rooting for her to pull off an upset here. I also like her program best among the Canadian women this year.

She did a "corker" during practice, according to reports in the arena. Overall it has been looking good :)

She posted an update on her instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/DTYGpmoDodK/

This whole season has been about listening to my body and today is no different. Unfortunately my vertigo was not good this morning and I had to make the decision I didn’t want to have to make, and withdraw from the free program at Nationals.

I am so proud of what I have been able to accomplish this season. I started out the season with hip and knee injuries, at the end of summer I had a lumpectomy surgery on a lump I found on my breast, and now dealing with vertigo for the past few months. Through all that, I started my season at a Challenger Series competition in Germany, I competed at my first Senior Grand Prix in Japan, I attended my first HP camp, and I was long listed for the Olympics and got to try on Olympic kit clothing.

I am so proud of my training through this whole season but particularly in the last couple weeks. I am so grateful to my team who got me through this year. Chris, thank you for the countless hours spent in the gym with me helping me get stronger. Alice, Meghan, thank you for the physio and vertigo & vestibular help. Kyle, for the hours of mental training and skills. Ken and Danielle, you held me up when I was struggling and I am so lucky to have you both as coaches. And my friends and family for the unconditional love and support.

I am excited to have time to rest and heal, and then get back to training. Onwards and upwards 💜

Ted was just talking about being able to watch live stream of the Olympic Team selection announcement this evening - but I missed the time. I think he said 7 pm but even if he did I didn't hear the time zone. Anybody catch it?

It's a little crazy that 4 of the top 10 here (after SP) don't have an ISU SB score at all right now. I know that Minsol may still not be internationally eligible (has anyone commented on her status at Nationals?) but it would be great for Gabby, Justine, and Megan Woodley to get at least one opportunity where they can get a counting score, and where Reese Rose can try to pull up from 195th place! Are there any comps this season that will count for SB score besides 4CC, Worlds, and Jr Worlds? I forget if Olympics counts for SB score also...

Also would like to see Quinn Startek get a chance at a SB score!

That was really good from Blais, especially after her poor skate at Challenge and her missed loop yesterday. She has a weird hesitation before the triple toe but got it done both days. She had a few mistakes but a lot of her jumps were very high quality.

A few mistakes from Hetty Shi. I thought she got off to a great start with the triple lutz, which hasn't always been there for her. Sounds like a lot of reviews.

re Lyons - can I just say how tired I am of Young and Beautiful. I have never liked it, the music is way too repetitive and it's way too overused for skating
The music is also almost monotone and definitely undramatic - a real droning downer (Tell us how you really feel, lol)

Osmond said Pomerleau's goal is to get a total score of 170. She's off to a great start. She did some really difficult entries to her jumps and seems to be getting good GOE for them. WOW she just keeps getting better and stronger as the program goes on! Oops that last combo wasn't great but I think it was a planned double lutz. I think she did all her combos in the second half. I thoguth her choreo sequence was great I don't knwo why she didn't get more for it.

Sigh I hope Brezden will be able to stay healthy next year and make a return to the international scene. Although as I type she is picking things up a bit technically.

It looks like three UR for Brezden (second lutz, the flip and loop) so her TES will drop, but considering her injury programs and missed training time, not a bad showing.

Brezden still broke 100 so a good result overall.

Results after the first group.

There have been some nice jumps caught on this warmup.

Ted just said that the French language broadcast team had to relocate due to a power failure during a snow storm. They were broadcasting from someone's house and had to pack up all their equipment in the dark! Wow!

Again - some good skates in the first group! Really wonderful to see some more depth in the singles discipline. Good for the future. Pomerleau was fantastic and if Blais can get it together, she has a shot in the future too.
