2026 4CC - Men Short Program

4S was done well, 3T was not. It’ll never get called but this is a clear example of prerotation that should be called in real time. The lutz and flip technique are on par with Grassl, too.

Points for fun music and some arm movements, but the choreography is nearly non-existent, the speed isn’t there either. 🤷🏼‍♂️

This song was on my bar playlist for a while before I left that career. Wish it was a more complete skater using it.

Chris saying Boyang Yin instead of Jin is just reminding me that he pronounced Cong Han's name like Kong Han.

After 3 groups, the SP results:

Jumps clean, but the program gives nothing. Tentative, slow, posture all kinds of twisted and hunched, crossovers have gone nowhere in all these years, step sequence shows he's behind even some of the low-ranked skaters here. He looks down constantly too and just gives these little glimpses of looking up and trying to be like 'here I am presenting'.

I just don't understand the music choices and style choices. There are more spunky options like Spider Man that drew something out of him.

This is a literal head-to-head comparison, Jin's program fresh in the panels minds and I don't think there's any question that Jaekeun was stronger across all three PCS. Much more of a program and strong choreography, infinitely more attention to the music, better speed, better foundtations.

And yet watch what the PCS will be.

Mie Hamada has really brought something out of Tomoki. He used to sulk through his programs even if the music was peppy and upbeat. You can see he likes this and I like how the pacing matches what the music is doing.

Spins are still meh to trash level, jumps are always gonna be tight. But the performance level -- great.
