The cliche of it all keeps me from taking this serious. The puffy look of the sleeves, and cut-outs in the costume make me think meringue, or salsa. His ability to fly is remarkable - back tuck in the short program, and almost a back layout in the free skate, in addition to his transitional jumps like the raspberry. Nice to see him building his technical content slowly this season - 5 quads last week - 6 this week - taking it easy early in the season. :ROFLMAO:

228.97 = 1st Place
333.81 =1st Place

There was no time change in Saskatoon - they stick to Standard Time all year and I'm very envious of this.

Me too. I'm not a fan of the time changes at all.
I live in dread of the day they do away with the time change unless they stick to daylight savings time. If they go with standard time the sun will be fully up by 4 am here in the summer - that's wasted daylight and how rude.

finally a Malinin program worth watching to the end!
I agree with whoever said that he just keeps tossing new stuff in there because he's bored competing against mere mortals. It really is incredible how easy these jumps are for him.

- aha, I suspected the voiceover was Ilia himself.

This competition is kind of a wash as far as the GPF. Egadze with 3rd and 5th won't make it, Miura didn't get points for his first event and now bronze. Selevko as of now with only one event and a silver. Aymoz no chance.

Tomono 4th, probably has to win at Skate America to have any chance.

Miura back to throwing one competition away and rocking another, it seems (well until the second half).

3 LPs this season so far, this is one that is a repeat after getting 2 choreographed just for this year. I like his skating most probably behind Kagiyama and Aymoz but he's every bit as infuriating as the latter when it comes to consistency.

Just skate to Beauty and the Beast forever :-P if you're going to bring something back.
His Beauty and the Beast program is my favorite of his!

Well Egadze then is not completely out of the math

There are simply not enough superlatives to describe Ilia. What an incredible skate. I mean, I just have no words. I hope he keeps his form and even improve for the Olympics. He will blow the roof off. I loved the voiceovers, too. Best male skater ever. And will be for a while.

I had no preference until I started reading stuff about how Standard is better in sync with our circadian rythms. Research is being done at University of Ottawa next door to me so I'm sold but I can see it could be different in other parts of the world.

I saw Ilia live first at Lake Placid at 2022 US Classic when he landed the first ever Quad Axel. Saw him live at Autumn Classic in 2023 and then again at 2024 Montreal Worlds, along with 2024 Skate America and Skate Canada. And then of course today.

Besides a new world record score for his LP, this was the greatest performance I’ve ever seen from him hands down. Wow. Just WOW!
