2025 Skate Canada Free Dance PBP - I Know What You Did Less One Ear

I am thrilled they brought this program back, I mean, it’s not like they were bringing back last year’s program like many other people.

But I don’t understand why the top ice dance teams of ChoBat, GilHusband and GuiFab don’t do challengers, because all three had kinks in their debuts in the GP

I guess the program is nice... Not sure it was worth bringing it back, really but I guess it's not my cup of tea.

Piper Gilles/Paul Poirier 🇨🇦
Rank after RD: 1
Coach: Carol Lane, Juris Razgulajevs, Jon Lane
Music: Vincent by Govardo

Choreo Assissted Jump/Lifting Movement
Dance Spin 4
One Foot Turns W:3 M:3
Choreo Sliding Movement

Curve Lift 1 - loss of balance
Synchronized Twizzles W:3 M:4
Diagonal Step Sequence W:3 M:3
Choreo Character Step Sequence

Rotational Lift 4 + Stationary Lift 4

So the curve lift nearly came crashing down as they struggled to find the balance point, but they saved it. I liked the one foot turns, and the ice coverage they had, and they did the stationary lift from the original program which I was anticipating. The rest of the program was flat, and cautious which is maybe not surprising given the lift glitch.

117.51 = 2nd Place
202.89 = 1st Place

That was such a rough skate. Really started to go haywire in the one foot turns for me, the rocker after they were horizontal was rough and really slowed them down. Once they struggled to get into the SL lift, their timing was off. Everything felt stop and start. And the twizzles really labored in the 2nd set, almost losing all flow across the ice, with really slow rotational speed. Should be -1 GOE.

But, I love Vincent v1.5. The choreo jumps are so good. After FB&C, maybe the 2nd best use of the element. Love the dance spin too.

I don’t think this will be the popular reaction, but I loved the original Starry Starry Night and this redo brings back all the feels in a new version. Time just flew by. Adore Piper’s dress. Wish they had done something new but this will bring back memories every skate.

Not a fan of the Lithuanians being that close to almost winning however.

Piper’s posture was worse than Romain LeGac today. Ditch this and go back to Hitchcock with a quirky program to hide her weaknesses. I love Paul’s skating so much but this won’t take them to the Olympic podium.
Yes! I loved the choreography of Hitchcock. And hopefully Piper has grown as a performer so she wouldn't be grinning through it like before!

That really was a struggle. And I don't see it growing or improving over the course of the season because that's not usually something GilPoir do with their programs.

I'm calling it right now - full IAM podium in Milano-Cortina. Unlike all the FBCiz ubers, I still think it's ChoBat's gold to lose, but we'll see what they look like in a couple weeks at SkAm. But, there's nothing in GilPoir's programs this week that lead me to believe they'll beat FearGib in Italy. Major duds.
