2025 NHK Trophy Rhythm Dance PBP - Spice Up Your Live(Barn)

@tony do you think that with a silver medal in Japan Charlene and Marco could be in the mix for maybe the 6th spot for the GP Final?
Smalll chance. The Lithuanians have a 2/3 and Lajoie/Lagha or Lopareva/Brissaud can potentially match that at Skate America, or C/P can get 2/4 with the silver which is what G/F would have here. Zingas/Kolesnik with 3rd in a deep field would go ahead, 4th would go to tiebreak (and Z/K have the first-event lead by 7 points).

FB/C, C/B, G/P, F/G for sure. R/A looking decent and then if one of L/L or L/B win silver in Skate America, most likely a done deal unless Z/K surprise again. If C/P win silver in Skate America and Z/K are 4th in Finland, then there's a big mess of 2nd & 4ths.

So, I'm still awake and don't have any reason to get up early tomorrow, so I may try to hang in for at least some of the pairs. However, the cats are having NONE of this. It's either "feed us right now or it's mutiny." So, on that note, I'm off to rattle those cat food cans ... I know when I'm beaten.

Im surprised that Wolf/Tsar looked much better than NesMark last week. The scramble for position in the US next quad is going to be something. But I agree with @thvu that Wolf/Tsar should at least be higher than the Czechs and close to tied with GrePar.

Good night, y’all.

Whole event was pretty ragged.

I don't share in this board's hate for the Shibs - I thought they did well and were fairly scored. The program is the program but that is pretty much the case for most dance teams this season.

The Italians were deeply underwhelming but in this field that's all you need to get second. The Brits were a bit flat too.

Kind of a meh event all around - hope the free brings some zingers.

First thought is I am glad I haven't tried watching any of these competitions live and continued living life as normal.

1. I actually don't think that is a bad RD the Shibs had choreographed. Of course I just read, post watching them, the explanation for the RD and I didn't get all that from a blind viewing. But considering how many failed with the RDs this season I will give them props for putting together something that made sense. Having said that I was preoccupied the whole time with the section we saw in that now infamous video and based on what i recall of the argument at the time I did wonder if words would be had backstage. Final thought/s: He is no Guillaume, she is no Laurence and they are no V/M so naive of them to think they would walk back in to those kinds of marks and reactions. I don't think they looked like shit by any means but they did well because of their precision and cleanliness and based on that they should have been in a training camp with other teams and regular coaching to really hone that strength. They were never a team like P/C or V/M, they were more a Guignard/Fabbri. I also wonder if the lacklustre response from the judges means their FD is a bit of a dud and I say that because I do think there is a pattern over the years where mediocre RDs get more love than they deserve because the FD is so strong they want to keep that team within reach.

2. Fear/Gibson were in a class of their own here. Don't care that she "can't skate" as well as Guignard or Fabbri, they were in a class of their own and it showed in this much weaker field. And my goodness haven't these GP events felt a bit unbalanced. At least I hope we can safely assume Shibs are no longer a factor in Finland. @VGThuy I don't think Lilah is trying to be Ginger Spice, I think between the two of them we are getting a nod to the five members. He is sporty/scary and she is ginger/posh/baby. My girls had the dolls, I know more than I want to about the Spice Girls

Unfortunately for you and your reference both the Japanese judge and I know that the Shibutanis had the correct kanji for siblings on their costume. ;)
It’s not that unfortunate for me because as I said, I was making a joke and it wasn’t me who made the representation about how the kanji evoked references to toxic masculinity and the Yakuza. Maybe you can explain to native speaker @YukiNieve why they’re wrong.

Why would I need an explanation from a random poster on a forum (who didn’t even post on this thread) when I have a real life Japanese native speaker I live with and with whom I speak in Japanese with every day?

The Japanese judge and every other Japanese person will have got that the Shibutanis were not referring to themselves as brothers (or as mobsters), but as siblings.

Also for future reference, I think you should leave comedy to other people. ;)
