2025 ISU GPF Ice Dance Free Dance - Have No Fear Shawn’s Not Here

OMG! Lolo tripped and fell on the final element. I have no idea what will happen with the scores now.

Laurence fell between elements.
Choreo Dance Lift

It's just the most stunning, and beautiful movement. The rotational lift to the beats of the music; the change of position, and direction in the curve lifts, and then a fall out of nowhere towards the end of the program.

-1.00 = Extended Lifts
-1.00 = Falls
126.69 = 1st Place
214.25 = 1st Place

Ok, so second time I like this FD much more, it's a very intricate choreo, and they are easily the best skaters currently skating. Also, they are the only one who on a good day can challenge the juniors on the twizzles.

Said that, this program badly lacks some faster tempo part where they could show their power and speed rather than just long lines in the ice center.

He got SUPER close to her in the one foot moving forward but completely held control and moved back away from her. Insane. Dance spin was sloppy and definitely lost GOE there. Curve lifts also crazy difficult for him to be SO low and be able to completely change direction. That choreogaphic lift is going to tell the story there, though.

The use of their full bodies, how they so easily and constantly get way down into their knees and keep the flow even with all of that happening. It's brilliant. The stretch, the finish of the lines, the nuances they add with everything like the neck flourish on the twizzle and the body positions in just about everything.

From a skating skills standpoint, they deserve the mark by MILES. Not by 0.25. From a composition standpoint, I'd say they also run away with it. I can't fault the presentation anywhere, either. [caveat is the fall and the reduction of the PCS required]

His one foot has been bumped up to level 4. Her serpentine step down to level 2. Curve lifts got called too long (more than 13 seconds). For now, the ChLi is being scored a separate element from the fall and still has +2.73 GOE.

Mark tells us that Madi & Evan were having skating over the skirt issues in practices here.

I don't know why, but as Madison and Evan took their starting position, I began to wonder what it would be like if Madison and Guillaume skated together.

Chock/Bates - I am still not sold on this music choice for flamenco. Twizzles were slooooowwww, and the last set barely covered any ice. I don't hate it, but I think they've had better programs. Tech score is close. I'd still have the French ahead on PCS, even with their fall.

To me Chock and Bates are losing points on the curve lift sequence because it is so clumsy going up. It's like one foot up, other foot up, okay now hit position. First set of twizzles absolutely checked by Chock and the second set once again got no ice coverage by either of them. That L4 for her and the GOE is just so ridiculous. Question of whether their character step 'stops' or not remains. Rotational lift good. Even the slide movement at the end, although done, was not as smooth.

Evan to me is looking even rougher this season on the individual edgework elements. It's all even slower than before and it's much not flowing at all. I LOVE the music and I love the concept of the program but it's just not skated outwards enough at all.

They will win this on the PCS cap I'm fairly sure but that was still rough.

Very strong skate, and more than enough to win this competition, but the technical scores are very close.

I'm sorry.
I am the first to admit I know nothing about ice dance.

Said that.

Wtf is that??? Not only that was worse that any senior couple here, I'd actually consider placing them below some of the juniors. This program is empty, they have zero speed, no ice coverage, no transitions, her positions are bad, the twizzles were wonky, half of the time they spent clapping on the stupid choreo sequence.

What ta hell???

Felt like Madi & Evan skated just a bit tightly throughout. Slight bobble right at the end of their last element, so room for improvement still. Not quite the same levels, but they make up for it in GOE.

I had no doubt Chock would rock this. Her interpretation is always impressive, the best in the field in my opinion, and that makes up for her less than amazing skating skills. He seems much less comfortable with this dance and style so for me there is a bit of a mismatch. This has grown on me a lot since the beginning of the season.
