2025 ISU GPF Ice Dance Free Dance - Have No Fear Shawn’s Not Here

Well, that's one interpretation of what Mark said. :rolleyes:

I don't know why it is that some people seem to think the ONLY part of PCS is Skating Skills. Composition and Presentation matter too.
No one said it wasn't, Karen. The TES matters too.

This is a really beautiful program that really shouldn't have been skated on this point.

This is the best I have seen them skate, I think, ever, but they are still not exactly the geniuses of speed and precision, and probably will never be already.

From meticulously judged one-foots and diagonal steps to now throwing out L3 to the brilliant technicians like Piper Gilles. Somewhere Shawn Rettstatt is raging that all of his work goes for nothing.

Super use of assisted jumps to start, love the choreographic elements in general in this program even though they need to go as a whole, And love how they end with the massive combination lifts rotating different ways even if this transition wasn't quite as pristine.

Her general way of holding herself so hunched and yet stiff is noticeable always, but at least this program still remains memorable.

Wow - G/P are a national treasure. The only other couple I can think of currently skating who create a mood like that is Z/K.

Okay, that got me for the first time this season. The program flowed much better than previous versions this season, and invoked the feeling I had watching it the first time round.

208.75 = 2nd Place

Gilles/Poirier - I adore Piper's costume. I know people don't like revamped programs but I'm not sorry they have brought this back. That was lovely. Piper made very sure of the twizzles again - her face was just a picture of concentration (and who can blame her). Tech sure should not be so close to Fear/Gibson in my opinion (and I love both teams). Held my attention all the way through.

GilPoir may pull it out here over FearGib, but that's going to be due more to the fact that there are only 3 teams per warm-up group rather than the usual 5. The audience reaction was much more subdued. Scores will be close, as they were in the RD.

The (un-fun) Finns or Czech teams could fill that box and with stronger technique. Of course, they’re not IAM skaters so :slinkaway
I think the Finns are probably stronger, but as you said, they haven't presented as very interesting.

I LOVED the original version of this dance, but I just don’t like the little changes they’ve made to it. Piper makes it look like work now.
