2025–26 Canadian Men: News and Updates

I don’t know where to put this and I don’t want to derail the thread nor do I wanna start a new thread about it but I did see that Elvis Stojko skated in the gala at the 2024 worlds? I just came across this in Wikipedia. If you saw him, how was he?
I saw Elvis both at 2024 Worlds Gala and at the most recent Stars On Ice. Agree with everyone's comments. He is amazing still! Likely the best of the "older" crew with his skating skills and jumps. A big crowd pleaser!

Too bad we do not currently have a world competitive men's skater.............
That’s a bit harsh. I think we have several capable world competitive men’s skaters as proven by the medals already this year? In addition to the overall points ranking, Roman is ranked 11th in the world. Perhaps a more accurate statement might be too bad we do not currently have a world champion or world medalist, unlike in the past.

Elvis does a skating show with solid 3T and 2A at the Toronto fair aka the CNE Canada National Exhibition in August, daily shows for two weeks. It's a fun show with stunt skaters on ramps and a cast of unbilled skaters. I've never met a skating show I didn't like.

Nah. It might be harsh, but it's true. :smokin:

Paradis made this reel with his triple axel

From his Instagram, he recently spent some time in Toronto at the cricket club

yes I saw that, great progress. He might even find some of the quads easier to get than the triple axel, as that happens for some. I don't think Keegan is catching the top current Canadian men based on his first international so far.

So current skaters with world min TES are Roman, Stephen, and Aleksa.

4CC mins- Chiu, Long, Newnham, Keegan, and John Kim. Hopefully Paradis and Bondar get a shot at them somewhere...anyway Grayson only missed the World Mins at IceChallenge by 0.15!

IceChallenge results:

Grayson Long: 3rd - yeah for bronze🥉at a Senior comp!
Keegan Messing: 4th

(Jacob Sanchez in 2nd, Maxim Naumov in 1st but zero "wow" performances in the competition, every performance looked like a chore.)

Messing will get tons of cheers at the Canadian Nationals, but w/ one quad, no 3Axel and no triple-triple combo so far, I don't see him blowing away the Canadian competition.

Grayson can look to the future.
