Wow - Chaeyeon has got quite the atypical Korean woman's look today. Black leather with black sheer overlay and silver stones. "Tron" soundtrack. Very reminiscent of Kaori's "Matrix" program but without a cool blade-cutter spiral, lol. Jumps looked good, though!

Sassy choreo for Loena. At the boards only at the end, when she lifts a leg.

Hongyi - is she skating under duress or something? She was giving absolutely nothing during that performance - and her speed & power is visibly lacking compared to Chaeyeon & Loena. But, really, I wondered around her 2nd jumping pass if she was being forced to continue competing.

Nini seemed to be skating under duress…fall and dull facial expression.

Kurakova should brighten things up.

Too many wires sticking out of Nini’s dress!
Those weird corded ropes were very odd. It felt more haute couture runway than figure skating, lol. Having said that, this is a far more age-appropriate dress and program for her compared to the coral-colored showgirl thing she had going on last season!

Shame about the fall on the 3f and she looked like she hurt her back based on the way she was grabbing at it when her program ended.

Sooooooooo... Katia's decided to go down the sassy Loena route - except she's not Loena, so this "Let's Get Loud" program doesn't quite work for her as well as it does when Loena goes down the Latin showgirl route.

Go, Bradie!!! 💗 Lord of the Dance!

Super! No falls! I preferred Sarah E’s Irish steps in her SP.

I liked the bit I saw of the Kurakova program and she seems to love it so why not.

Has she left Orser? That’s a French choreographer/coach with her?

Well, now we know why the USFS gave Elyce the SkAm host TBD spot - they wanted to save the duel between the Irish dance show SPs for Nats, lol. Bradie's got a 3z+3t and the cachet of being a former national champ & Olympian, which probably gives her the edge, but Sarah's step sequence is miles better. Could we have two Irish dance show SPs from American women at a Boston Worlds?!:biggrinbo

Yang/Deng - good 3tw; only 2f for the SBS; nice throw 3s - the program itself is pretty bland. Pleasant but unmemorable and those 2Fs won't help them beat any of the other teams here unless those teams give them some gifts.

BecGuar - sooooooo many thoughts. Solid 3tw, great SBS 3t, good throw 3s - and then he stumbled a bit while transitioning into the DS and they wound up only getting a base level for it. Step sequence and the closing spin look undertrained, which makes sense given her injury.

Now, about their costumes... They need to ditch these pronto. And Matteo should NEVER ever wear a bright, multi-sequined emerald green tunic blouse with matching, fully blinged & appliqued out cummerbund. Lucrezia's costume is fine, but Matteo needs a fashion intervention, stat. And a haircut.

ChanHowe - yikes. That was a rough season debut. 3tw was okay; she wiped out on the throw 3lo - they had a TON of speed going into it; SBS 3t - she bailed out on it after 2.5 revs? Lift seemed fine; SBS spins were a hot mess and totally out of synch. Her concussion must have really slowed them down because this looked way under-prepared. Maybe they'll look better in a few weeks at SCI.

PavSvia - just when you thought "oh, yeah, they're going to easily lead" after they nailed all the hard elements, they go and completely biff the death spiral - no value! That threw their energy off and the rest of the program had zero spark. I honestly don't know who I'd have in first between them and BecGuar.

Cha - lol, the camerawork doing a super-close up of his skates on the combo is something else! TES was all green but I missed his first two jumping passes and that combo looked sketch on the replay. 3a was good.

ETA - the crowd booed at his 92.28 score, lol.

Dai - he was doing well until the fall on his solo 3z. I don't recall much about his program. The soft rock is luring me back to sleep. It's all vibes and feels, like the soft lull of waves lapping against the shore and a warm, gentle breeze. Maybe Memola will skate to something more peppy.

Nikolaj - Spanish music that did not put me to sleep; but he fell on his opening quad and that was that. Rest was fine and could be interesting later in the season.

Jason - well, everything but the fall on the 3a was good. It's not like any of the other US men not named Ilia are likely to beat him out for one of the spots for Milano-Cortina (yet), but he is vulnerable if the 3a is becoming less reliable.

Yudong - what is with these Chinese guys going for soft rock/blues? Don't they know that I didn't sleep particularly well last night and their music is making me fall back asleep? 4t - back on his heels and he stepped out and put a hand down; 3a & 3f+3t were fine. I remember nothing else about his program.

Well, Deniss was clean and I appreciated his club music - I made Bandit half-dance along with it because she wanted attention. She didn't HATE that because she was still purring loudly the entire time. She's not really a figure skating fan though and resents my attention to it, lol.
