The camerawork of this event is making my eyes bleed. Did they watch old videos from trophee Lalique or something? I mean they aren’t even doing that style well. The camera charge during Leona’s combo jump. lol

Yeah, the skycam shots and some of the close-ups of the skates DURING the skate... If you insist on being artsy-fartsy with your videography for a sporting competition at least have the decency to save it for the replays. Christ... These producers need to treat skating like a sport - you don't get these kind of "artistic" video choices in football, baseball or pretty much any other sport.

LopBri - I'm calling it right now, but I think ZingKol will beat them in the RD at SCI.

GuiFab - this RD is also still WTF. And Charlene needs to lay off whatever hair product Sui Wenjing gave her. It was bad enough that Riku Miura was sporting that greasy bob look for a few seasons, this doesn't need to become a thing with any other skaters.
I agree Z/K are on fire in their RD.
I love Charlene's hair it goes with the FD theme and suits her.
Marco's yellow top has to go and please cover his boots for the FD.Really liked the FD they are so sharp and the ending was much improved.

Well, I missed the FD & Women's FS but I'm awake for Pairs, lol!

Chan/Howe - well, Emily's still missing her jumps, and they're still shaking off the competition rust, but they have the bones of a beautiful program to Andrea Bocelli's "Io Ci Saro" if they can clean up the jump issues. SBS 2t+2a; SBS 2s; 3tw - good; hand down on throw 3f; death spiral much better today; excellent first lift; step out on the throw 3f; pairs combo spin was really short & had no value; the rest of the program was solid.

Yang/Deng - selections from The Artist soundtrack. They're going to beat Chan/Howe here but that's mostly because of the disaster SP and Em's jump issues. :( Huge 3tw; throw 3s - fine but forever to set up; deliberate SBS 2s AND deliberate SBS 2t+1a+1a - first four elements were all grey GOE boxes which says it all; finally green for their first lift; she fell hard on her rear for the throw 3z; last two lifts, choreo seq & DS were all fine.

These announcers are trash. They should not be celebrating the fact that their home team barely remained ahead of another team. And I do mean barely - by .14 because Em/Spencer are miles better on PCS.

BecGuar - trad Ren-style-esque costumes but the modern R&J soundtrack. 3tw - eh; SBS 3s+1a+1a good; SBS 2s - glanced away to type and missed who screwed up; nice DS; huge throw 3lo; really nice choreo seq & two lifts; throw 3s - she pitched forward a smidge but was fine; good pairs combo to finish. This could be a good program when it's clean - and it's almost there, lol.

PavSvia - let's see if they have more POTC swagger today than at Lombardia...

3tw huge & fab; SBS 3t+2a+2a good; throw 3f fine; SBS 3s - she stepped out hard; stone-faced on their first lift; Base level BODS; throw 3lo fine; he looks like it's a struggle on the lifts today; there's definitely some sort of injury issue - choreo seq & pairs combo spin were both sloppy with negative GOE and rightly so because they look completely exhausted. They're only a threat for any podium if other teams screw up still. Even they knew today was not their best effort.

ETA - they still won because their TES base is much higher than what BecGuar put out there today.

Bradie looks pretty good for this time of the season and coming off injury. I suspect she will always be at the mercy of the panel with rotations, but this is a better lay out than trying the lutz/toe in the long.

I don’t think the program is choreographed super well though. She typically has more detail in her programs than this. And the crescendo at the end is not being highlighted very effectively. She has a nice spread eagle and they’re kind of hiding that in the corner after the music swell is almost done. She could re jig this to have a nice moment highlighting something she does quite well. It’s not that hard to get people on board with this music, it’s very good skating music and there’s a reason it’s a war horse. But the choreography is a bit lacking in this for me.

Loena looks like she’s got some work to do. We’ve seen her turn it around before, but she didn’t really look prepared for this event. And the less said about either program the better. She is wasting her talent by not getting a better choreographer. I’m not saying her competitors at the top are skating to works of art or anything, but she has enough charisma and style to her skating that she could set herself apart from others if she used someone who knew what they were doing. I actually think she’d do Sakamoto’s Chicago program pretty well. But more of the same with these programs. And enough with the poses at the boards. :scream:

Very respectable 130 for Bradie Tennell with lots of room to improve if clean (problem on the 3Lo, singled axel in the sequence, missed levels in two spins and on the step sequence). Good strategy to put all three combos (2A+3T, 3Lz+2T+2Lo and 3Lo+2A) in the second half.

Loena Hendrickx is increasingly looking like time has passed her by. I know she has been injured, but I don't see how she remains competitive with the content she has. She's still being gifted PCS and will drop like a stone (probably outside of the top 10) once the halo of the past few years wears off and the judges' PCS catch up with current reality.

Thanks. I loved the sweep and majesty of Kim’s FP to Whisperers! Tennell repeated last year’s Turandot FP…still lovely but some jump landings were iffy. Since she didn’t skate it much last season, it’s worth repeating now.

Two thoughts on Katya's Cats program:
1. Katya is probably the only skater in the world who could pull off that program, and it took every ounce of her charm and charisma to do it.
2. That was one of the best costume changes ever.
