Mark Hanretty is in pre-season commentary prep mode, per an IG story from earlier this week, so I presume he'll be joining Ted once again for the JGP.has anyone heard if Ted is doing the junior broadcasts again this year? any chance of getting somebody else?
good to hear -- tbh I think the time has come to begin phasing Grandpa out of the JGP broadcasts.Mark Hanretty is in pre-season commentary prep mode, per an IG story from earlier this week, so I presume he'll be joining Ted once again for the JGP.
Noooo! Gramps is half the reason why I tune in. I’m counting down to Gramps in Thailand.good to hear -- tbh I think the time has come to begin phasing Grandpa out of the JGP broadcasts.
Neither the US Men nor Women finished in the top 3 nations at Jr Worlds last year, they were in the 4-6 spots, so they're only guaranteed 1 entry in each JGP. If other spots open up because countries decide not to use them before the individual event announcements are published then those spots are reallocated. The US picked up 3 additional spots in Men and 1 additional spot in Women. Same scenario played out in Ice Dance, however the US got lucky and managed to pick up an additional spot in every single event, so we're maxed out in that discipline. Tough year for the US Women, for sure, with so few JGP spots up for grabs.I imagine this has already been discussed, but I really am not coming here much anymore, but can someone direct message me and let me know why the United States only has one entrant into the third Junior Grand Prix. I thought the United States qualified more spots last year.
And lastly, will Sarah Everhardt be competing seniors?
Thank you for explanations. Well, that's good and bad. A real shame for Hauer/Starr that they're unable to compete in Istanbul, but a great opportunity for Ilin/Cain. Also, the Bangkok entries have been updated and there is not a replacement for Hauer/Starr.
Ilin/Cain are assigned to JGP Istanbul![]()
Lavrova/Rogers are reportedly no more, she has reportedly retired—sorry, I can’t find the source right nowInteresting assignments all-around -
Men - nothing really stands out to me as necessarily unexpected - nice to see Michael Xie gets his 2nd assignment; Japan decided on Tsudoi Suto for its TBA and his 2nd assignment
Women - same as the men in that nothing really stands out as unexpected - Mia Kalin gets a JGP but she'll probably get buried in this field, especially with Heesue Han, Yo Takagi, and Phattaratida Kaneshige each getting 2nd assignments here from KOR, JPN & THA respectively; also a bit interesting that Australia gave Hana Bath a 2nd assignment here; and nice to see Iida Karhunen finally making her season debut!
Dance - easily the most surprising field - was not expecting NesMark or the Mullens to get 2nd assignments before CarHor or Lavrova/Rogers got their 1st; great to see Tkachenko/Kiliakov are going to do the JGP after all; and ballsy of Canada to assign Nguyen/Giang here; those four teams along with Fradji/Forneaux and Kishimoto/Tamura mean that half the field are legitimate medal threats and the results here could ruin someone's JGPF dreams.
Uhm, yeah, I shared Jonathan's IG story announcing Anya's retirement in the US Ice Dance thread earlier this week.Lavrova/Rogers are reportedly no more, she has reportedly retired—sorry, I can’t find the source right now
OK, until we have event-specific threads in Kiss & Cry, here’s my Eastern-US/NAm timetable for the JrGP#1-Bangkok, as per the ISU Announcement (start times for first event on each day):When will we have JrGP events in Kiss & Cry? Right before the start of each event?
It’s nice to discuss entries here, under GSD, for now. It would be good to discuss the telecasts, hosts, time schedules per event, by event. JrGP#1 starts in less than one week with interesting time zone schedule for many of us…12noon in Bangkok is 1am in Eastern NAm (& also Caribbean, for me).
JrGP will still be carried via the ISU’s YouTube channel, yes? We won’t yet be on the Peacock Train.
From the ISU qualifying document.Hey guys I have a question about the upcoming Winter YOG 2024. There are still some quota places left that will be determined “according to the JGP ranking” of this season, right?
If a skater/team from a certain country ranked higher, but the country did not have an age-eligible skater/team to send, does the quota go to the country ranked next in line?
d) November 15 – December 15, 2023 – ISU to reallocate unused quota places to Members/NOCs on standby list who had confirmed interest in participation. ISU Members/NOCs being offered an unused Quota Place toreact within 24 hours of receipt of the ISU notification.
thank-you so much.. I don't do kiss n cry.OK, until we have event-specific threads in Kiss & Cry, here’s my Eastern-US/NAm timetable for the JrGP#1-Bangkok, as per the ISU Announcement (start times for first event on each day):

Really? Why miss the best part of this board?thank-you so much.. I don't do kiss n cry.
well.... when you are old, retired, and have a weirdo disease which you react weirdly to recommended medications plus 2 cats and a dog, a sick husband and kids(grown) you have to draw a few lines. I don't have many as I usually am low maintenance. I don't do anything computer wise that costs money and although I still buy a lottery ticket I only do loto max, no extra, but only once the pot is 30m or more. These are the things that only benefit me and my enjoyment. Besides...I never had kiss and cry so I am ignorant of what all the joys are that I am missing. I am super happy when I find the news I am looking for here.Really? Why miss the best part of this board?![]()
Apparently they limit who can view it - I don't see anything on the page.USFS has created a Competition Central page for their JGP competitors -
