If Nakamura wins then that would mean Martynov doesn't and it would come down to the tiebreaker with Strommer for the last spot, whereas a straight out win for Martynov gets him in ahead of Strommer.

Ah. But then I guess I'm confused why Nakamura specifically could win and play spoiler, if he only did well enough to get 3 points last time.

I had edited my original post to add:

ETA: USA's Daniel Martynov will qualify for the Final IF he wins gold in Yerevan... or, if 2nd, would need to score 203.16 (hope my math is correct) to win the 13+11 tiebreaker against Strommer.
