2023-24 Challenger Series

I'm assuming the 3 days of replays are included in the All Access fee. I've asked and will post if I get a response.
I'm from the US, has anybody bought a prepaid international Visa? I'm not sure I want to use mine for a foreign purchase. I want to see Nepela.

Thank you so much, @Sylvia!

I won't be up in the middle of the night (ie, before 7am), but I'd be happy to give them 20 Euros to be able to watch it after the fact.

ETA: They have my money and a warning (in German) to remove my ad-blocker, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

In order to register for the account, I had to choose my favorite sport from a list. After a lot of poking, I could not it -- I was probably staring right at it -- and I was almost tempted to select what I think is underwater rugby, but I chose randomly instead.

Eiskunstlauf :)

I just started typing figure skating in English and it pulled up the German for me haha

I did, too, and it pulled up a list of six or seven, none of which was German for figure skating.

I didn't realize at first that it was a drop-down: I thought it was a free-form text box.

With this now-obvious move by the ISU to turn the CS events into chargeable ($$$) stagings, I can now understand why the previous-seasons’ CS Ice Challenge in Graz, Austria, was abandoned/cancelled. Ha! Now it makes sense…can’t charge for the simpler approach and Post-it notes. To me, it was free and simple but that approach doesn’t fit the new model.

I believe the federations hosting the ISU Challengers decide whether or not to charge for a livestream, not the ISU (or to have a livestream - looking at you Croatian fed! :angryfire). Skate Canada continues to make their Autumn Classic International livestream+replays free.

ETA: 2023 CS Ice Challenge Graz was announced as cancelled on July 27 (via the competition's website, FB & IG accounts).

I swear, if the Croatian fed decides against having a stream again this year and we miss the international debut of McBeath/Parkman...

I'm pretty sure the Kazakh fed doesn't charge for their stream of the Denis Ten Memorial, and usually the Hungarian and Polish feds use their YouTube channels. I could see that changing for those last two mostly because there were issues last season with YT cutting the stream off after so many hours due to "copyright violations".

And, honestly, if the Challengers have good fields, I don't mind supporting them by paying for a stream with archived replays available.

Yeah, once again, your outrage is misplaced and your assumption is way off-base. The ISU is not doing much of anything with their planned channel, and the organizing committees/Federations are the ones setting the pricing for filming and streaming.

I'm still in favor of an ISU streaming channel all in one place to come about. I'd gladly pay as much as I did for IceNetwork and then Sports Gold, and I already pay year-round for Peacock as it is.

I agree with this, but until then I'm also to pay what I consider a reasonable amount for some events. It can be difficult and not cheap for some of these to livestream, especially if they have no infrastructure in place to do so. I just consider it similar to the cost of buying a ticket if I were there.

But also if the ISU is serious about growing the sport putting everything in one place would make that much easier and more feasible.
