Think these 3 control their destiny...

Kaori - this is hers to lose. And in this depleted field I think she can afford a few mistakes. I LOVE her so hope I'm not jinxing her.

Wakaba - I always find her scoring unfairly lowballed but I love her. She has consistency issues though so don't think she's a lock if other skaters are lights out.

Loena - not my cup of tea at all but I get why the skating world is dazzled by her and I'm sure she'll be shoehorned into a medal slot some way or other.

Potential for the rest of these ladies but really depends on other skaters to make mistakes...

Korea - these girls get no love from the judges which always pisses me off. They're boring as hell but their elements really deserve better GOE than what they're getting. I think consistency issues will keep them off the podium but if they both turn in clean skates they'd both be easily in podium reach, esp if Young You can stand up on her 3A<.

USA - honestly would be thrilled for any one of our ladies to get a medal. It's a tiny minuscule outside chance but Mariah feels most likely to me (even though Alysa beat her at Olympics) - I think she'll be a hit in France and the crowd will give her a nice wave to ride on. I think Alysa's jumps are gonna get trashed by the callers (even when other skaters' other cheated jumps get free passes) and Karen will be her usual hot mess.

Gubanova - she's another skater whose appeal I don't get either. But she's consistent and gets the job done and could have an outside chance if Japanese and Loena stumble. Would be a real case of bright metal in muddy waters.

I am willing Liu to bronze and would be very happy for Kaori and Wakaba to get the top 2 spots.

I think that it would be a very good showing for Team USA if Liu and Bell can finish 6th and 7th and keep 3 spots for next season. On a really good day, i.e., standing up a 3A<, I can see Liu sneaking into the top 5.

I have Sakamoto winning this somewhat easily as she's been rock solid and reliable this entire season! However, I wouldn't be disappointed if Higuchi goes 2 for 2 again on her 3Axels and upsets her way to the top as I do honestly feel that she owns the ladies FS of the season!

Well plugging in the Olys results (taking away RUS), you would have Alysa 4 and Mariah 7. And theoretically Karen doing better if the ankle sprain is healed...

I think all 3 US girls have a shot of atleast the bronze actually, even if I would be surprised if more than maybe 1 medal.
