So New Jersey?Azerbaijan?
Not surprising to me.From what I've read on Twitter, Russia is saying nyet to hosting a second Grand Prix.
Baku FTW!!!Azerbaijan?
Same goes for Skate IsraelSo New Jersey?
They'd need a better stream.Ok, I’d be so down for GP Cranberry Cup.
You don’t need a stream if you’re thereThey'd need a better stream.
They will. It was their first pancake in a brand new facility. I can bet that the MIT geeks will figure it out next month for the US Classic. They'd need a better stream.
Yes, please! Boston is good, too.So New Jersey?
I actually feel sorry for Sui/Han not to get their programs out in an Olympic year
If people can't fly in, they can't fly out
AFAIK, the one rink in the country is still kaput.Azerbaijan?
Unless the ISU steps in and pays for it, not a chance!Personally I feel like a GP in Italy would be delightful. They can give Kostner a host pick!
It would be a scheduling nightmare. GPs are set up for two warmup groups in each event. Is it possible to reassign skaters to existing events and make those fields larger, if no federation steps up?
I wish I could be there just for the ladies.Skate Canada Ladies field is a bloodbath![]()
Yep. https://www.dubaiicerink.com/Is there a rink in Dubai?
Isn't that what they are doing for the JGP?Is it possible to reassign skaters to existing events and make those fields larger, if no federation steps up?
On a different note, I find it interesting that USFS was only sending one Woman and one Men and no Pairs to CoC. Unless the list posted above is missing people.
coz Australia is in a lockdown, outsiders cant come even their citizens. What about Stockholm? They must have the rink, but will they have the interest?
Why can't Australia host a GP?
Sweden is an interesting choice, Australia is barely letting its own citizen in, no way are they holding a GP event (skating is not Tennis...).What about Stockholm? They must have the rink, but will they have the interest?
Why can't Australia host a GP?
The various NGBs that put on GPs negotiate though. You mean that COC only selected on American woman, one American man, and no pairs? Federations don't send people to the GP.
Not really. The GP events are scheduled tightly on competition days and for only two warm-up groups for each discipline. Adding skaters adds more time than contracted and scheduled. Is it possible to reassign skaters to existing events and make those fields larger, if no federation steps up?

And, after skaters are selected, their NGB sends them so this is really just word play.![]()
Because the borders are shut, our own citizens struggle to get back in, and everyone, including our returning Olympians, has to do 14 days quarantine on entry. Not to mention the current internal lockdowns between states and the Delta variant being allowed to spin wildly out of control in Sydney. Why can't Australia host a GP?
There will be an alternative GP. It's really a matter of which feds are willing and able to step up to the plate. Some folks have mentioned Russia or the US and while I would be surprised to see any the other GP hosts offer (and Russian skating Twitter has already ruled out the RFSF for a 2nd GP), I suppose it is possible that the USFS or France might step up if none of the other non-GP feds are able. Travel restrictions being what they are, I think Canada and Japan are unlikely. What happens to Bradie if there is no alternative for her?

I too feel that there will be a replacement GP somewhere. I too like the idea of Boston stepping up, though I won't make the trip. There will be an alternative GP. Boston could be a good option if the SCOB is interested and able, but that is also dependent on NBC because the USFS/NBC would need to provide the television feed. And, no, we wouldn't be relying upon the SCOB Vimeo livestream, lol!
