Yes, Nikkie is very experienced running her own show and being responsible for the content she puts out. She built her own brand and her on-camera ability played a large part in that. So to me it's not surprising that this is something she can do well.
My surprise with her is that I didn’t expect an YouTuber, albeit an excellent one, would do so well on a live stage, at such a high profile gig, right off the bat. I’d say most YouTubers would flat our embarrass themselves on a live stage, it’s a very different medium.
Then again, they probably wouldn’t have her make the jump to stage if it didn’t look like she would fare well.

I have to say that Manizha grew on me. I adore Little Big and I was really pissed that they wouldn't compete again this year. I got their reason and all (200 000 000 views so far...it would be very difficult to top this), but I still was pissed and kinda anti-Manizha.

But now I, and after having listened to her lyrics with my ears and my heart, I totally get her song and having been in the situation she describes ("Your daughter is pretty, but she'll get fat one day.", "Late 20s? Why don't you have a husband and kids?") I totally feel this song.
All the women in my family have always been so strong, have overcome so freaking much, have had to fight for so much, but have never lost their spirit, strength and sense of humor.
It really is a liberating song for so many (Russian) women.
I think Tinami would agree with me on this one.

I feel the same about this. When I first heard the music, I was kind of a ouch, what ****. Not a fan of rapping. And I loved Little Big's craziness, too.
But the lyrics and the show won me. And indeed, there is a big article today in Finland's biggest newspaper about Manizha, the situation of women in Russia and the negative reactions her song has raised in Russia. It is not in the culture section but in foreign politics.
AFAIK, in Soviet times the equality of sexes was just a myth. Women did double work. Hopefully the new generation of Russian women (and men, too) will make the change and maybe Manizha is a great part of it.

Sorry for the political rant, but these things matter to me. Vive l'equalite!

I have also to boast that I have met both Lordi and Martin Österdahl due to my work. :cheer2: Lordi's costume stank like hell, but he is nice.
Martin Ö was a typical polite Swede, I am sure he is a good Eurovision boss.
I am already excited and starting to do rainbow nails both to my hands and toes. Have not been in a party since... For a long time. (We will be 7... All had their first vaxx...).

Ahead of tonight's final, here are the results of our FSU poll (10 voters in total):

My bad, I didn't read the rules before as I wasn't going to do it so I only picked songs that were in the final :D
Having said that I don't think I would have changed much, if anything, to make a difference so no harm done.

For what it's worth, I only voted for songs in the final as well. I go off songs that don't qualify even if I really liked them before.

My top ten was similar to this top ten just a little different order. Excited to watch it just wish it wasn’t t the middle of the day but will still open the prosecco ;)

Greetings from our gang! I might not be able to comment all the time, but we will rock!

3pm isn't middle of the day and it's Saturday! North America is the perfect time zone for watching Eurovision.
I’m a light weight these days when it comes to drinking lol don’t know what happened to me .

It’s too late here in Israel to watch the whole thing with an early flight tomorrow. We will root for our girl and go to sleep.
