Which men will make the team with Sam Mikulak and Donnell Whittenburg?

Dalton is a lock. That leaves only 2 spots.

Naddour shot make it unless he misses pommels many more times in the lead up.

For the last spot I have no idea but will guess Leyva.

Leyva, Dalton and Alex Naddour because he is valuable in Pommel Horse, though he fell on the first day of the all around competition

Though Chris Brooks and Paul Ruggeri had a good championship, but they are not that valuable or specialist, they are good but on events the US is well covered right now

I dont want John Orozco anywhere near the team, he is a total headcase

Interested in hearing from the 9 voters who picked Leyva? He was quite the mess this weekend. Brooks handily beat him on his best event (PB) and he biffed his 2nd best event (HB) both days. While I understand why people consider him, for his past accomplishments and recent world medals, there really are so many others that are performing better and looking a lot sharper than he is right now.

Leyva looked bad last year, and IIRC didn't make the team. He came in as an alternate for Mikulak, right? Then he won a silver on HB. I think he peaks late and somehow manages to turn it on Internationally. Doesn't mean he'll make the team though. When I chose him in the poll it was only after night one, I though maybe it was a fluke.

I don't think the US is a real medal threat in team, I think our best bets are:
Mikulak - AA if he holds it together
Whittenburg - Rings (probably our strongest medal chance)
Dalton - Floor or Vault
Leyva - HB or PB if his angel twin decides to show up
Naddour - may qualify for finals, a far-fetched medal shot

A couple of other guys who could possibly hit HB/PB and get lucky

Honestly I'd trust Leyva on an international stage before Mikulak any day :shuffle:

USA could win the bronze medal, Russia looked strong at europeans yes and defeated the brit guys but the russians are headcases

I think the battle for the bronze will be very tight between USA-Britain and Russia, but the americans will need to go clean as possible and make the most points out of the pommel horse that is still their nemesis though Naddour, Dalton and Mikulak can score decent enough in pommel right now so we will see

Chris Brooks scored in the low 14's on pommel both days, which was better than Jake. Of course Akash and Yul are mid-high 14's...but not as strong on PB and HB. But both are scoring higher on floor than Chris, OMG this team is so hard to choose. I shudder to think what happens to the decision-making if Orozco starts hitting his stride too.

Orozco better stay away from that team please
