2016 Academy Awards (Oscars) - Ceremony & Red Carpet

I'm also someone who is told to "be more extroverted," but I attribute that more to being a woman in a field that's still dominated by men. And, well, it's true -- I do need to be more outgoing, and I appreciate the comment because the people who tell me that are people who are trying to help me.

I've never seen a major "Asian-American character" played on any mainstream TV show. Rather, there are Asian actors in generic character roles, and maybe for once, I'd like to see a role with an unabashed Asian or Asian-American character that shows some element of culture?
IMO, being more extroverted doesn't make you better at your job, and they're telling you the wrong thing even if they're trying to help. Nobody's ever told me to "be more extroverted" even though I'm a VERY introverted person and also in a field dominated by men. I don't hang out and party, and I don't schmooze around the water cooler if there's work to do, but I DO speak my mind when I have an opinion. I don't care who's there. If something needs to be said, I'll say it if nobody else is. I've even spoken up in a meeting with THE big cheese, which would earn some serious  looks at more traditional places. But even in city government (where I am right now), they appreciate someone who gets stuff done! :D

I also go to meetups and events regularly, not because I tell myself I need to be more extroverted, but because I see an opportunity to learn and help. My introvertedness just means I have to choose such events carefully and recharge between each one, but I don't think of it as changing my personality to suit people. :)

Also, I don't watch TV, but lots of my friends do and Fresh Off The Boat seems to be breaking down some of the barriers. It's based on the life of Eddie Huang, so there's some actual accuracy to it.

And we still have Han Yan and Radionova's LPs to get through.
I still haven't been able to finish watching Radionova's LP. The music makes me twitchy and I have to stop the video.
Lol. I could care less about award shows, but DiCaprio really pisses me off for no real reason.
He doesn't piss me off, he does annoy me. I honestly only wanted him to win the Oscar because I knew the sad Leo memes would stop and there was a chance he might cool it on the movie making front for a while. He has a ton of stuff in development on IMDb but that doesn't mean any of it will actually get made.
