2026 Worlds Mens FS PBP - You Will Score Something, But Not Nothing

I'd have a problem with it if I heard they were rude or condescending to others. I have not heard that about Ilia. In fact just the opposite so he gets a pass from me. I still am confused on the scoring we saw while watching particular on the axle and on the combo with the euler.
You're confused by the fact that the 3A was mistakenly called a 4A by the tech panel but the element also had a yellow line under it, noting that it would be reviewed? And you're confused by the correct calling of the 4lz+1eu+3s that was also marked for review? But you're not confused by the 3F that was called as a 4F+Rep originally and also marked for review, as noted by the yellow line under the element on the TES tracker?

I don't know what to say if you are unable to understand how the TES tracker functions on screen in real time. Or are also unable to then go look at the detailed judges protocols to see that the elements were, indeed, all reviewed and corrected (4A became a 3A, 4F+Rep became a 3F, and the 4Lz+1Eu+3S had a q given to the 4Lz). That seems like a you problem less than a scoring/judging problem.

I'm happy Nordebäck had a redemption skate after almost missing the FP altogether. Apparently I have a soft spot for Samoilov (6.0 skater about sums it up), who landed that beaut of 4z right in front of me.

Happy about Kevin's skate too, and exasperated by Adam's. Selevko was suffering from severe popitis during the 6 min warm up, but pulled it together for the skate.

It's not my favourite of Kagiyama's programs, but that was magical. Got to throw a stuffie on the ice for him (a first in my 30 years of fandom
 ), even if only because someone threw it in my seat (almost didn't notice, as I was busy giving him a standing O, along with the rest of the arena). Malinin is impressive, even if the voice overs are cringey af, and there are so many Malinin fans here, a lot of the younger crowd seem quite devoted.

Reaching Hanyu levels, we need to brace ourselves for the next quad

"I definitely think so" replies Ilia to "Do you think you're the superstar of figure skating today?" No shortage of ego there.

Taking nothing away from what he DOES do on the ice .... he's an incredible jumper ... BUT I think this is ludicrous that he has been given credit for 2 quads he didn't even do. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

For me, Yuma Kagiyama had THE skate of the day.
I wish you hadn’t drawn the conclusion about Ilia getting credit for jumps he didn’t complete without reviewing the protocols first. That’s the bad taste in the mouth.

Oh, good Lord... FS fans really need to get over this demand they make of skaters for false humility. Plenty of people are out here blowing Ilia's horn about how good he is and who cares if he is willing to also say that out loud? He IS that damn good and bitching about him saying it sounds a lot like petty jealousy.
That part. In fact, all that external horn blowing put an insane amount of pressure on Ilia this season running up to and through the Olympics. He’s a three-peat World Champion and an Olympian with team gold. I don’t care if he believes he is a superstar just like I don’t care if Beyoncé believes she is a superstar. Let them carry their own swag FFS!

Between Alysa and Ilia, I agree. But, yes, Ilia's fanbase is probably going to wind up comparable to the Fanyus, ironically in reaction to the very Fanyus & Japanese skating ubers who are constantly attacking Ilia's PCS and even, today, trying to claim that Yuma had better jumps today. I mean, sure, some of Yuma's jumping passes looked better than Ilia's but there were some low ones too and then Ilia had some superb jumping passes also, so it's just getting to be ridiculous the level of nit-pitcking that's happening right now.

Seems to me that, in person, Ilia's performance was quite captivating and compelling - at least for half the judges.

That ought to set the anti-Ilia half of FSTW into a tizzy that will occupy them for months, if not years, to come.
why would anyone here care what another platform thinks?

I mean, it will probably set FSU for the off-season nicely so no need to drag them into it ;)

I woke up only in time to see the last 3. Didn't want to see Selevko's drop, was terrified for Adam, and knew Ilia was not going to bomb like Olys. Very thrilled for Kagiyama to skate clean! And to Sato for his bronze :) Will go back and watch after today's march

Major KUDO's to GoGO for achieving PB's in his last 6 performances! A special shout-out for holding his nerve in his 1st world appearance, while carrying the weight of added expectations from Olympics, and pressure trying to qualify 2 CDN spots for men, esp after Yuma's magnificent, magical freeskate! So very proud of Stephen's stunning achievement this past season!

Oh, Yuma. I just want to watch it on a loop again and again.

I wish he could have done that in Milan when the world was watching because it’s a beautiful example of what can be so great about this sport. But better late than never and I’ll remember this one for a long time.

And huge props to Ilia for handling this so well. I’m sure there was some doubt in his mind stepping on the ice today after what happened last time. It wasn’t perfect, but he managed it just fine.

I was not a Kagiyama fan but he great in person. Everything so smooth and connected. Able to create crescendo in the choreography. It WAS the skate. (Though placements correct)

If you're going to throw away your career as a judge by scoring someone outside the corridor, that's the way to do it! :encore:
It was probably a typo so would be easy to explain. But I feel like the software should catch these things and give the "Are you sure?" dialog box. :D

why would anyone here care what another platform thinks?
My attitude towards everything. Who cares what people I don't know think about anything?

I think the confusion stems from the fact that the tracker was showing about 123 when it went off, so many of us expected it to drop when the axel and flip were fixed. I think someone else pointed out that another pass had the wrong bv which ultimately explains the offset, but it was still confusing. Multiple calling mistakes (although ultimately corrected) at a world championships is unusual.

Fair enough - the data entry operator needs to be :lynch:, lol!

Yes, it looks like they corrected both the 4a to 3a and 4f rep to 3f during the program.

I guess it's been a long season for everyone, including data operators.

What a wonderful worlds it has been ;)

Given the quick fix, I think the error was probably made by the data operator and not the caller. In this case, the system worked...the safeguards in place identified the errors immediately and they were corrected by the time Ilia had finished skating.

An adult skating friend of mine, who is a judge, filled in as a data operator at a club comp once. She said it was very stressful (and she is a now-retired physician, so she is smart and a quick thinker). Obviously, any data operator at Worlds has years of experience, but that doesn't make the job any less demanding. At the end of an almost 4-hour comp, their brain was probably fried.

(Just now getting going on the men's LPs).

Me watching Pitot:

Let It Be. Oh my gosh. There's a Beatles song that I actually like.

Music switches to something upbeat (Get Back). OK, this is a better vehicle than he had last season, and I am prepared to agree that he has improved.

Eleanor Rigby. :duh: Grrrr.
