News & fluff via social media (figure skating focus)

Sarah Brightman's account Xtweeted about Kaori who skated to her song, Time to Say Goodbye.

Warmest congratulations to Kaori Sakamoto on an extraordinary Olympic achievement!Throughout this season, it has been a true honour to see her interpret Time to Say Goodbye in her short programme - a deeply fitting and meaningful choice in what marks her final Olympic season. With heartfelt congratulations to Kaori, and to the many supporters in Japan who have followed her journey with such pride.

Not sure if it is ok to link TikTok in here but Tim Dieck's account is so funny. I didn't realize he and Sara Conti were a couple but they are hilarious together!
Quite a few TikToks already have been linked in this thread. :) Here's Tim Dieck's TikTok page: https://www.tiktok.com/@timdieck
His Insta video:

It's been challenging to keep up with the sheer/increased volume of social media content (Instagram posts/stories tweets for me) during this Olympics - will sift through as much as I can in the days ahead and post more links here.

I have become a real Tim Dieck fan after following his TTs. Particularly the one where he was pronouncing his own and other skaters' names. And the game of hide and seek in the room was silly fun.

A delightful interview with Surya Bonaly about the backflip and her 2022 book:

I have adored Robert Samuels' (Wash Post, but maybe not still) reporting throughout the Olympics. This Instagram reel is a great example of digging into aspects of the mixed zone I never knew about: https://www.instagram.com/p/DVEdXn6kb_V/

I'd love to see him do more.
@barbk have you seen my fan thread for Samuels? :) https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...htful-articles-more-from-the-olympics.113709/
He's a "national enterprise reporter" for WaPo and is still employed.

Looks like Tiffany Zahorski had an amazing time in Milan with Eurosport! :)

Did you know that pin trading is its own alternative sport within the Olympics? We have three of figure skating's premiere pin connoisseurs - Madeline Schizas (Canada), James Hernandez (Great Britain), and Anthony Ponomarenko (United States). They may be from different countries, but they all had pin trading on their agendas in Milano Cortina

Ioulia Chtchetinina - "From flying trough the opening ceremonies , to ugly crying mid ice, to gifting snoop dogg a stuffed pierogi to soooo many more absolutely 🤯 moments."

@Cachoo that press conference clip was from St. Louis Nationals. :)
