2026 Olys Mens FS PBP - Habemus Pop-am

I know the Olympics are in Italy, but I'm not sure that an Italian operatic-style cover of an Ed Sheeran song was necessarily the way to go :shuffle:
I feel like skaters using opera just because it's Italy is like skating to only Tchaikovsky in Russia or folk/Appalachia in the US. Yes, it's traditional, but the kiddies want something with a beat and incomprehensible lyrics, regardless of nationality or ethnicity.

While Kao and his buddy Lukas are no longer in first, their rise continues. Clearly, they kept some of that voodoo doll. I like these breaks--the bad thing about being able to see ALL the skating I see NOTHING of the other disciplines, cause I have :all the emojis and none of the energy left: to watch. And I love snowboarding. Snowboarding is not a sport, it is an excuse to vibe and smoke and rave and make up multiples of 180 and I am here for it.

I don't even know if there are any weird/new sports at these Olys. Any Winter equivalent of break dancing or indoor rock climbing? I've only seen a little bit of speed skating and now snowboarding. No idea how anyone's doing at anything.

Is it mathematically possible (based on their BV planned elements) for anyone to break into the top 3 or is the podium a lock even if the top 3 have bad (for them) skates?

If the lower level men land all their planned quads well and the one or two of the top 3 mess up one or two quads, there is the possibility of movement. For instance, Grassl plans 4 quads while Yuma has, I think, 3.

Where's Matteo's Maneskin programme when you need it?

Yuma & Adam only have about a 9-10 point lead on Grassl in 4th down to Aymoz in 7th, so it wouldn't even take a really bad skate for them to be beaten by any of the 4 guys behind them. Now, I don't think that's all that likely but they're all capable.

Ice resurface entertainment

You are all welcome :)
The expression of some of the background people matches my WTF was that? thoughts exactly.

Malinin really hit the figure skating genetics jackpot. He's small and can get those tight rotations in his jumps and he's fearless. He's never really had to struggle with growing pains like the taller skaters and having to readjust his center of gravity. There's a reason nobody else can do what he does. And, he's been taught good technique from the time he first put on a pair of skates. Just thoughts from watching him backstage.

And he is pretty good with the basketball.

Other guys doing waltz jump; Gummenik gorgeous 4S then equally gorgeous 4Lo. And now 4F clean but with a bit of a mule kick. Quads look as easy as Malinin’s.

Is Ilia wearing a shirt that says "Quad God" in sequins?
If he is, I will start middle age fangirling him RIGHT NOW.

btw, in case any skate gods are listening, I hope Cha falls on every jump and gets a PCS score of 2. I hope Yuma falls on every jump and two spins and gets a PCS score of -87. Not saying anything about Ilia, because they're not messing with a fellow g0d and the ice will fly where it may for him.
