2026 US Nationals Pairs FS "Ghosted (by my triples)"

After thinking it over, I would be ok with C/H going to the Olympics. I mean, I don't trust that they would have a clean program but it is lovely and what else can USFS do? But we do have BOW to consider and I don't really know how that plays out with pairs right now. Bottom line, E/M deserve to be the champions and it can't be helped she doesn't have citizenship yet. K/O are simply a given, no question. They will be at the Olympics. C/H will probably be the second team only because Mc/P don't have citizenship either and S/N could be deserving but that wasn't a convincing skate here.

I honestly don’t think it matters who they send. Send F/W. Actually, send P/F! The second US team will finish in the same place so it really doesn’t matter. K/O will do the team event so does it matter? Draw a name from a hat.
I mean, in a way I agree, but K/O could have a last minute injury, get covid, etc. There's always a chance that we have to use the second team in the team event.

Well, it matters to the teams involved.
We’re going on about scoring potential. In terms of scores, I don’t think any team will score better necessarily.

But I like all of the teams I listed and I don’t believe either C/H and S/N necessarily earned the spot outright. Yes, C/H came out on top (barely) but their short was a disaster and they are lucky they were scored how they were. S/N had loads of level issues in the long and that can’t be overlooked either.

Anyway, I suspect C/H will be named but I don’t think either team would be wrong. Or right.

Y'all are right, it was Mrs. Mitchell. I bet Ben has opinions about the governor of O'Shea's home state getting involved.

I really hope some miracle happens (though I doubt it). Not because I think that E/M would score all that high, or even higher than K/O or S/H but they're just better skaters and would just represent the US bas a whole better. Alisa with an Oly medal is a lot less head-scratching than Ellie Kam with one.

I don’t trust K/O in the team event. I pretty much only/barely trust E/M and that’s not going to happen so…

Yes, someone could have to fill in. All our teams are inconsistent unfortunately.

Thank goodness they called most of the under-rotated jumps I saw. They could have been downgraded in a singles event even.

I guess if you think about it I’m OK if Emily and Spencer go to the Olympics, but they’re not going to be used in the team event regardless. So it doesn’t matter who the second team is at this point unless their names are Chelsea and Ryan that is.

Tee-hee

As many, many people have said, the US has three spots to worlds. Three spots at worlds because the total placements to get three spots at worlds remains 13, which was achieved at the last worlds.

We don't have 3 spots for the OLYMPICS because teams who earned more spots than they had teams in the free skate did not earn spots but earned the chance to send a team to Beijing to try to earn a spot. The US sent Shin/Nagy and they weren't able to finish high enough so we have two spots to the Olympics, which is irrelevant for worlds.

BOW over the fall season favors ChanHowe - their current season WR is 7th versus ShiNagy's 13th - and that's even with ShiNagy having 2 more international assignments than ChanHowe did during the fall.

Chan and Howe might have biffed their SBS jumps (Chan, anyway), but other than a hand down on one of their throws, the rest of their elements were good or very good and earned +GOE, plus they got L4 on all of their lifts, which earned then a lot of points. In comparison, Shin and Nagy also had issues not only on their SBS jumps but other elements as well and overall received -GOE on 6 out of 11 of their elements.

Danny was born in Pontiac, Michigan.

Why does everyone think this has anything to do with O'Shea? It's the governor of MISHA'S home state.

I also don't really know why anyone thinks USFSA is going to send Shin/Nagy. If they wanted them to go, they would have gotten some gift levels.

TY..duly noted..Yes, I watched the event.

Yup. The GOE was literally the difference between the two teams. ChanHowe's superior PAIRS elements carried the day and completely filled in the very large hole they dug for themselves in the SP.
