2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics - Figure Skating Qualification

Qualifications standards set by German Olympic Committee

Pair Skating:
In the competitions listed in the attached list, achieving a score of 184 points or achieving 171 points twice.
Ice Dance:
In the competitions listed in the attached list, achieving a score of 189 points or achieving 178 points twice.

Competitions are:
Grand Prix
Challenger Series
Beijing qualifier
German Championships 2026 with the participation of at least three foreign judges and one foreign Technical Controller or Technical Specialist.

So...
Hase/Volodin have already got the score at Nebelhorn Trophy.
Hocke/Kunkel got 180 at Nebelhorn. So they only need another 171 score.
Janse van Rensburg/Steffan also got the B score at Nebelhorn (180.05). So they need to repeat it again one more.

Does the US have standards like this for their pairs teams?

No, the USFS does not have any score minimum ls for any discipline. If we have the spots, they will be filled.

There is very little worry that the US teams would be able to achieve whatever minimum the USOPC wanted to establish seeing as we have 3 teams who were all in last season's SB Top 24 that are Olympic eligible already (KamO, ChanHowe & ShiNagy).

Julia Sauter has received her Romanian citizenship and will be able to represent Romania in the Olympics!

Hocke/Kunkel and Janse van Rensburg/Steffan achieved the B score again in their first GP outings. So they have now satisfied the German Olympic Committee requirements.

What a relief for Hocke / Kunkel. Their journey to Milano has been a tough one. Glad they only just made it to the free last year in Boston, to ensure a spot. It's nice to see they have met the GOC's requirements (I recall they used to set really harsh requirements ... )

Update on Fedir Kulish's quest for Latvian citizenship -

It doesn't sound hopeful, to me, that the Latvian fed's own secretary is admitting Kulish isn't doing well in learning the Latvian language. We'll have to see what happens.

Kirills Korkacs is the only other Latvian man competing senior this season and he is 1.59 points short of the Olympics CTES min of 86.00 - he is competing this weekend along with Kulish at the Volvo Open Cup in Riga, so maybe he'll manage to earn the CTES min with a favorable home panel.

 🤔 🕵️‍♂️

(ETA: Deniss Vasiljevs and at least one other skater are in a dispute with the Latvian Federation over funding.)

 Has the Deniss Vasiljevs telenovela aired its finale? :gallopin1

Why didn't anyone let me know? :wuzrobbed

Tune in next week, I suppose. 🤷‍♂️
