Love, Balls and Courting: Tennis V

The Vogue article Serena wrote is really beautiful and worth a read. Margaret Court's record is so arbitrary. The way it's called an "all-time" record is disingenuous, because it's anything but. While Court was a note-worthy champion, her grand slam title count is meaningless. She didn't win...

 at the comments in here. Wouldn't be surprised if one of you were the ones who drew this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/comic-riffs/wp/2018/09/10/an-australian-artists-racist-serena-williams-cartoon-receives-swift-and-international-blowback/ And if you didn't draw it, that's...

Love, Balls and Courting: Tennis V

It’s weird in one paragraph you say not to compare matches, and the next paragraph that’s exactly what you do. Much like the rules applied by Ramos, you’re nothing but inconsistent. Watch any Nadal march chaired by Ramos, Nadal just get instructions point by point, and he says nothing. Ramos...

Love, Balls and Courting: Tennis V

It’s weird how the rules are always applied to Serena when other people get away with so much worst. I was at the Sloane match, and her coach was literally telling her where to hit her serves and returns, and no violations. It happened during the entire match. The first code violation should...

Love, Balls and Courting: Tennis V

Serena was so obviously injured at the end of that match. Whether her limited schedule had an effect or not, it was hard to watch. She could barely get her legs up to serve, and she was still able to take it to a tie break. Impressive. I like Pliskova's game a lot. She pretty much out-Serena'd...

I prefer the sides. You get to see both players equally and it's a different angle than what you're used to seeing on TV. It's like the 50-yard line in football, IMO.

Tennis star Maria Sharapova announced she has tested positive for a recently banned drug (meldonium)

I am a little confused by how Sharapova can continue. Wasn't her statement that she had been taking the drug for medical reasons? So if she needs the drug for medical reasons and not as a PED, then how can she continue to play? Is she going to take alternative medication, and if so, why did she...

Tennis star Maria Sharapova announced she has tested positive for a recently banned drug (meldonium)

She is a master spinner (except for her top spin). The tribunal did find her of wrong-doing, which is why she got banned for 2 years. For the amount of time she was doping, 2 years is very lenient.
