With Chen, maybe Yahli was the best partner option that he could find last spring and thought this was better than spending a season partnerless and not competing. Just my guess here.
I’m really sad about Hauer/Starr. I wonder how much his back injury this past season (IIRC even by nationals...
Pitot is aging out of juniors (turned 19 in January) so he'll be in seniors: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00107792.htm
ETA: Juheon Lim has the option of going back to the JGP (Korea has the maximum spots), although I hope he'll elect to challenge himself in seniors.
Hyeongyeom Kim can...
Amber is already guaranteed 2 GP's, so I don't see the benefit of giving her Skam. I'd rather see the other 2 spots go to skaters who might not otherwise have an opportunity to get a first or second GP.
Astana also has limited direct flights to places where skaters train (none to Japan or Korea, for example): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nursultan_Nazarbayev_International_Airport#Passenger
There wasn’t an ideal place to put it, but Coupe du Printemps entries are out and there are no US skaters, even though this event is on the USFS international assignments page. 😢
I hope USFS has chosen another event to send skaters to instead. Triglav seems like the only highish profile option...
I think Everhardt could have a bright future, but she hasn’t exactly set the world on fire internationally either. Unfortunately whoever was picked (including Lin-Gracey, Seo, and Higase-Chen) was going to carry some risks.
Not sure where to put this, but based on the updated bios, USFS seems to think that the US won the team event when in fact they were second :slinkaway

I’m a huge Clare fan, but Starr is far more experienced competing in seniors, including twice in an ISU championship (4CCs), so I definitely understand this decision.
I'm really confused as to why Renzi/Lissauer are competing as novices when they're old enough for juniors (unless her nationals bio is off) and they've been competing junior all season
