Practice reports, pics, clips, etc. from Prague 2026

I guess I’m alone in thinking that a program requiring a blank-eyed Frankensteinish lady is better for Sarah than one that demands fire and passion. :shuffle:
The blank-eyed Frankensteinish lady still required playing a character. She just wasn't up for it. Maybe someday she will be, but not yet. The Firebird music at least carries her a little.

I dont agree. I know it was just practice but she skated it the exact same way she did all those times in competition- with zero interest in listening to the music or trying to give some kind of energy to any of the movements.

The other free skate was bizarre as hell but at least there was more of a program.

Sarah needs Kevin to choreograph for her.

But I did kind of like the quirkiness of the program and I loved the dress. But she needs a program that she feels comfortable with.

Not recording anything today but here at pairs practices.

Ukrainians look solid. Love the Swiss but at the very end of their runthrough he started to lose control on the SBS spin and went upright, she kept spinning for a brief second and almost hit his face with her blade. They are both smiling but even I squirmed and I usually don’t flinch.

I’m awake and wondering if I would be able to buy practice tickets because I have nothing to do… I went to bed right when I got in and woke up at about 5:30. I didn’t even have dinner last night!!

There are 4 more groups and then a long day of skating. Just skip it and eat something

@tony I don't have tickets to the ladies short but am eyeing Ticketmaster to grab a ticket. I was planning on skipping to do some sightseeing. Also need food, haven't eaten since lunch yesterday in London 🫠

@Lanie Ticketmaster has them until the last minute. I got some for the practice yesterday and bought them as I walked in late in the evening. There’s also a box office at the arena but they seem to have less options available than online.

What’s the score with tickets for the practice rink though, they don’t seem to be available to buy?

The door security here is one of the strictest I have ever experienced (of course, it depends on the person). So far, they haven't cared much about the size of the bags, but they have asked many people to open the smaller compartments inside. Absolutely no cameras are allowed except very small compact ones or cell phones.

Today I was told that you can only bring one bag (I had two and a small handbag), and when I showed them my flags, banners, blanket and stuffed animals, and asked her how I could fit all of these in one 30x20 cm (12in x 8in) bag, she just told me to go to the storage place. I think they have never watched a skating event.

They also tried to control the entrance to each section by checking your ticket (as more people came, this became less strict), but they did not control the kids standing on the stairs near K&C and screaming for autographs during the practice even while the run-through was going on. Once the competition started, things were more controlled, though.

Samoilov is insanity on the ice. Dont believe he will land many jumps but the sheer quality of his skating, gliding, the heigh of his jumps - I don't remember such a skater. Perhaps Verner at his best times but then Samoilov is a better dancer

Versluis is not at practice. He wasn’t at practice in the other rink a few days ago, either. He’s apparently holding on by a thread with a back? injury. So who knows for tonight. Julia is here.
Yes Versluis has had some muscle ache in his back that has hindered their preparation for Worlds. I believe the English term is lumbago. They were unsure before RD if they can manage the lift. He says it's hard to bend his back from side to side and do a release type of movement https://yle.fi/a/74-20217794

Edit. They hadn't done lifts in weeks and decided like 5 minutes before RD warm up if they can manage to do it on land they will skate. So my guess is Matthias is saving himself and pulling through the Free Dance with pure sisu. Valtter Virtanen has been providing medical care for him. He is there as Ukrainian team doctor supporting his wife and Kyrylo Marsak.
