Do you only have opinions on ppeople you know well personally? That’s unusual. “Mrs Plushenko” is represented by a vast array of social media posts and interviews, it’s fair to draw conclusions from them. With all due respect, do you personally know his wife? I, of course, have never met the woman so therefore don't feel I can pass a truly knowledgeable opinion on her. The word "speculation" always makes me dismissive of whatever follows it because, let's face it, we never know what's true or not these days. And, yes, I know Plushenko has at least some importance in the Russian skating community. He owns/ operates a skating school, does he? And, I think one of his sons is exhibiting a fair amount of skating talent. As I said, life goes on.
FWIW, my opinion of his skating was formed long before he married Rudkovskaya, let alone the war started.Plushenko has an added dimension because of his awful wife and speculation on his feelings about Putin and the war, he’s still very important in the Russian skating community.
Even without ever meeting little milly, I have no doubt she would look fabulous with Alysa-style hair!As long as she doesn't copy her hair!![]()
You are right ... I think we all form opinions about people we don't know (politicians would be a good example) but they are just that...our own opinions...not something we actually know for sure. So, to directly judge some one I don't know is something I try to avoid. One of the things I love about FSU is that almost everybody uses the "imo" before or after they make a statement, which makes whatever they say totally acceptable (at least, to me).Do you only have opinions on ppeople you know well personally? And I have no problem with your opinion of his skating at all. I liked it. You didn't. Fair enough. Different strokes for different folks.FWIW, my opinion of his skating was formed long before he married Rudkovskaya, let alone the war started.
That's also what I thought. My take on the thread title is related to the old Western "A Fistful of Dollars"
I don’t know Joseph Stalin personally, but I’m pretty sure he’s someone I would consider a bad person. With all due respect, do you personally know his wife? Kurt Browning’s commentary can sometimes be hit or miss but he always steps up for the Olympics. I like how he points out quality footwork, choreographic sequences and musical interpretation and that he treats the competitors with respect. Became of his own Olympic “failures” he seems to have a lot of compassion for the skaters whose performances don’t go as planned.Totally agree. After all, wasnt GP fired from her commentator position because "it is the responsibility of NBC to provide coverage that our viewers can trust to be unbiased?" Nothing "unbiased' about Johnny's mean-spirited remarks. Meanwhile, on GEM, Kurt was kind. He pointed out her mistakes but you could tell he felt for her, particularly when he said, "I think her heart was broken when she missed the quad." And Carol lane agreed with him. Quite the difference in commentators.
I think Browning has excellent these Olympics. Maybe some people don’t care for the humour but I was laughing at his continued shark/fish puns as Gutmann was waiting for her scores. And I feel he’s picking good moments to get into the technical calls and when to maybe let it go without being said because it didn’t change anything about the placement.Kurt Browning’s commentary can sometimes be hit or miss but he always steps up for the Olympics. Also it occurs to me that 32 years after Midori Ito landed her 3A in Albertville, no women’s OGM has landed a triple Axel in their Olympic skates.
Dick would feel compelled to tell us how that is because of that tricky axel edge. Also it occurs to me that 32 years after Midori Ito landed her 3A in Albertville, no women’s OGM has landed a triple Axel in their Olympic skates.
I won't be there. Now we can all return to our favorite post-Olympic competition hobby: Speculating on who will and will not be at the World Championships in Prague.
One more thing, my friend! Those jumps that Eteri insisted the girls to do with the arms above them in the air (the Rippon effect) didn't help them at all. They may have been 'the thing to do for more points', but I think they found that it didn't really help them at all, at least not this time. Honey hush! They needed much more than that but didn't have it.Also, congratulations to Japan for having two women on the podium for the first time!
And 13 women with 200+ scores tonight (and Loena just missing the 200 mark by .35) - that's got to be some sort of record! Also, a clear message to Russia that the women's discipline is doing just fine without them and their cheated jumps.
To think - 185+ was only good enough for 18th place! This was really a remarkably well-skated competition!
I won't be there.
Just back from Hawaii -- and I saw three young women in the Waikiki area with similar dye jobs. Two looked like Japanese tourists given their clothing. I wonder how many more I'll start to see?As long as she doesn't copy her hair!![]()
I wonder if Leona will continue. I`ve always loved her womanly, mature skating. She was a little tight tonight but she always brings the meaning of the program to the forefront. I never feel she`s skating element to element (except the opening combo).Really love Loena’s program and costume and music full package great too bad about the mistakes
I have neglected my physical health, I have not been in a gym or on the ice in 2.5 weeks, in favor of pizza, watching skating, and Aperol Spritzes. I am so sorry for this announcement if it disappoints any of my fans.I don't expect Loena to continue past this season. Unfortunately it really seems like her body is telling her it's time to stop. I'd love to see her healthy and continuing to skate but it just seems unlikely at this point.I wonder if Leona will continue. I`ve always loved her womanly, mature skating. But are you retiring?
